TGIF to a Rooftop Lunch by the Waterfront with the Ladies!

Gabrielle Burgess of Suga Lifestyle with friends Kesha Gabbidon, Tiffany Simmonds and Gillian Jackson.

Last Sunday, us Ladies swapped Kitchen Aprons for chic tops & Sunday dresses to head to a late lunch at the new ROK Hotel Kingston (Ig: @rokhotelkingston) in downtown Kingston.

Very much like downtown Miami, it’s paid Parking.

Tasteful, modern decor with furniture and art from local artists adorned their lobby and walls as we headed up to the Rokstone Grill.

The breezy seating area with a spectacular view of the waterfront was spacious with comfortable options and we were greeted pleasantly and seated immediately.

Be conscious of dress/skirt as well as hairstyle choices ladies.

Our waitress was none other than the bright and charismatic, Sasheni! You better ask for her!

She took us through that menu like the grill had been opened for a decade. Her suggestions were on point too (Hint Hint).
Suga has received quite a bit of feedback before deciding to visit. The fine dining restaurant would not be open until 6pm, but would I put on my Sunday dress, let down my hair and head to this new rooftop grill with jazzy music and order a Burger? Let’s be a bit more adventurous when we go out and try new places Suga fam.

We kicked things off with Passion Coconut Seafood Ceviche, Crispy Calamari and Baby Greens with Granny Smith Apples.

Coconut Seafood Ceviche

The Ceviche needed to be complemented with something like a Pico de Gallo for added flavour and colour on the dish.

Crispy Calamari

The Calamari was a bit on the salty side and we had to ask for the passion fruit-thyme vinaigrette, which was supposed to be drizzled over the Baby Green salad. Then it was good to go. Quite a large serving too.

Cocktails arrived and they were fantastic. Especially the ‘Rebirth of Kingston’, similar to a sangria, but with rum.

Our mains arrived in covered bowls to withstand the breezy elements of the rooftop. We enjoyed the Pimento Grilled Chicken and Guava BBQ Rum Ribs accompanied by provided Walkerswood pepper sauces. The Ribs didn’t slide off the bone, but they were still tender and juicy.

We were very tempted to have the Dragon Stout Brownie as the finale, but Sash sold us on the Mango Cheesecake that was not presented as your typical Cheesecake slice. Kudos to her, it was fantastic! I’m still going back for that Brownie though.

Lovely day out Suga Fam. I advise you to participate in the rebuild of downtown Kingston. But of course, you need to carry a little extra dues. Enjoy the weekend!
