TGIF was an understatement. Thank you Rainforest Caribbean and the Award-Winning Chef Volae Williams and his team at ROK Hotel Kingston by the ROKStone Grill for a spectacular Seafood Buffet Experience spanning about 7 stations.

Jerked Octopus with scotch bonnet citrus herbed butter


– My targeted, ‘meaty’ Jerked Octopus with adequate heat from scotch bonnet citrus herbed butter
– Hubby’s fave, Ceviche by the Raw Bar was on point
– Enjoyable selection of traditional and Jamaican rolls by the Sushi and Nigiri station
– The Mixed Seafood Pasta! I’m gonna tell you about it!
– The Strawberry Macaroons and rich Chocolate Log Cake were perfection. Definitely worth the calories.

Chef Volae told Suga they made a special effort to bring out the taste of the flavour of Rainforest Caribbean’s Seafood and of course you can’t do that by piling on a sauce. So hubby and I definitely appreciated their mixed seafood tossed in fettuccine with sundried tomatoes in a very light Mondavi Wine, butter and garlic sauce. Surely the Fit Happens with Gabby way. Nailed it!

All you can eat for J$10,000 with a live band and wait staff that we gave an A for effort. This experience was definitely value for money, especially as we continuously strive to revive Downtown, Kingston.

Same time, same place each month Chef Volae, ROK Hotel Kingston and Rainforest Caribbean? We’ll see!

Eat Well, Drink Well at DLE Cafe in Fairview Town Centre, Montego Bay!

Had a quick pass through Montego Bay last Wednesday and I kept it healthy, finally getting to stop by DLE Cafe (Ig: @dlecafe)!

As you enter, you will see a sign showing that basically Good Food takes Time. Definitely freshly made, cooked to order. So if hungry, call ahead. They have THE widest range of healthy options.

Quite a clean, cosy atmosphere with a handful of in and out diners. I observed that most persons picked up their orders and the staff were polite and professional.

I had the Bad Ass Black Bean Burger with their own signature dressing in a Sprouted Spelt Burger Bun (J$2000);
Baked Sweet Potato Fries that were air-fried and tossed in Cinnamon and Paprika (J$700);
Immune Booster Smoothie with Spinach, Kale, Celery, Lime/Lemon Juice, Ginger and Ginger (J$950)

Hubby had the Chicken Fettuccine (whole wheat) in Pesto Scotchy White Wine topped off with parmesan cheese (J$2800).

Great flavours with a touch of spicy and we left feeling full and satisfied.

We Got Early Dibs at Chive Restaurant for V-Day! Where Did You Go?

I Ain’t gonna lie, we werecomatosed from Chive Restaurant (Ig: @chivejamaica) yesterday.

We went for a late brunch close to 1pm, but ended up ordering from their V-Day Menu.
We had our usual Appetizer Faves, Chive style Mussels and Marlin Canapes, followed by a Savoury Seafood Risotto and Whole Lobster Themidor. Chive dishes thrive with Herbs and the right amount of Spice. We thoroughly enjoyed it all and since we sighted the freshly made Desserts from we walked in, we saved space.

Tiramisu for me, where ladyfingers that were not spared and a decadent, Rich Chocolate Cake for Mr. Suga.

Then homeward bound to our Pawlentine, AnnieB

Great way to start the New Year with Breakfast at Middleton Cafe!

Cool, fresh Blue Mountain air, warm hospitality and freshly made, tasty breakfast with rich, Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee.

Persons seem to be slowly getting back into their routines for the New Year, so this may be the last weekend for a bit of R and R before the real hustle and bustle plus back to school begins.

Head on up to Middleton Cafe (Ig: @middleton_cafe_bar) about 45 minutes from Papine.

Go early to catch the Jamaican Breakfast, but we got there a bit after 10:30am and our Omelettes were awesome. Loved that I could customize and substitute the Cheddar Cheese with Mozzarella.

Princess AnnieB was on her best behaviour and there were diners, but it was not crowded. They have a simple, very affordable menu and we were so comfortable. Looking forward to stopping by again soon.

Where are you dining this weekend? It’s our first Post Covid Christmas and everyone is busy, out and about!

My Christmas dining experience was made when one of our Faves, Summerhouse located in Harmony Hall, Ocho Rios came to Kingston last weekend with a Yuletide Grill Prix Fixe Menu at 10 West Kings House Road.

With visiting Chef Bill Clark (Ig: @frombilClark) joining them in the kitchen, Appetizers and mains rolled out in a timely manner and service was excellent, as Beverages flowed as well.

Ordering their Saltfish Fritters was a must! They are like dumplings! Their Smoked Marlin Dip with homemade chips, a treat as well.

Their Charred Drunken Beef was perfection and indeed left me with a drunken feeling of satisfaction all evening.

Hubby, Randy enjoyed the Grilled Lobster with scotch bonnet sambal, coconut, saffron and turmeric. I meaaan, when he hardly wants to give me a 2nd bite, you know it’s fantastic.

The sides of Kale and Roast Pumpkin salads were absolutely delightful. Not sure how the misfit of Fries emerged, but looks like we missed out on the Holiday Fattoush Crispy Bread. We had no space for it anyhow.

A mouthwatering Brownie with a taste of Coffee Ice cream was the Finale to our feast and a fabulous Sunday leading up to Christmas.
