Serena Williams is out in her tutu for the US Open after her cat suit was banned. I mean, it’s not like the fashionable G.O.A.T would wear it again anyway.

Serena meets her sister, Venus today for the 3rd round at the Arthur Ashe Stadium at about 6pm ET on ESPN.

How has Serena been hitting? Check this video out from ESPN on her 2nd round win by clicking on the link here:

Upsets on the Ladies side so far

The no. 1 seed, Simona Halep crashed out of the US Open quite early in the 1st round! So did the no. 2, Caroline Wozniacki last night in her 2nd round match.

French and Wimbledon Champ, Garbiñe Muguruza also tapped out.

Who’s left for the Ladies besides the Williams Sisters who have dominated the sport for years?

The field is still wide open. But Defending Champ, Sloane Stephens is still in it to win it.

Maria Sharapova is still struggling with her comeback.

Then there is young Angelique Kerber, Naomi Osaka, Madison Keys, Karolína Plíšková, Jelena Ostapenko, Petra Kvitová and more!

What’s happening with Men?!

No upsets on the Men’s side just yet! Big name favourites Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer are looking good and still in it to win it!

Stay tuned!

St. Ann Infirmary receives a Water Tank from Rotary Ocho Rios East!

The Rotary Club of Ocho Rios East is a Non-Profit Organization that serves in their Communities and offers various Benefits to their members, just as other Rotary Clubs. The Rotary Club of Ocho Rios East is a part of Rotary International, in particular, Rotary District 7020 with clubs from Jamaica and other Caribbean islands.

Members of the Rotary Club of Ocho Rios East happily donate a well needed Water Tank to the St. Ann Infirmary in March 2018.

Earlier this year in March, Rotary Ocho Rios East donated a Water Tank to the St. Ann Infirmary. They also found time in the same month to Plant 18 Trees, representing each of their members in the Blue Mountains area.

While the Blue Mountains area has a lot of vegetation, it is also a World Heritage Site. They chose that area to plant the trees because they saw it as an opportunity to contribute to its maintenance and of course preservation of the environment.

Why you shouldn’t use Straws!

20180828_064346
Photo: Earth Today

Millions of straws are used worldwide per year.

A person uses 38,000 straws in a lifetime.

A straw takes 100 years to degrade.

Straws affect thousands of animals in the sea.

See how a plastic straw prevented a turtle from breathing properly and how hard it was on the turtle when being removed. Watch video here:

PROTECT THE ENVIRONMENT AND STOP USING STRAWS

Alternatives if you like using straws

[Source: https://www.1millionwomen.com.au/blog/straws-why-they-seriously-suck/] – Edited

There are plenty of alternatives to disposable plastic straws available if you like slurping a smoothie or shake. Many retailers today stock glass, stainless steel and bamboo straws. Biome has a huge reusable straw range that you can check out. Keeping one wrapped up in your handbag is also an option.

Educating your friends and family about how dangerous straws can be, will help motivate them to make the switch to straw-free.

Saying no to straws seems like such a simple action, and it is. But actions like these really do make an enormous difference to our environment.

Just remember, that straw could end up in a turtle’s nose!

TGIF to this hunk of a Veal Chop from Sugar Mill Restaurant!

20180823_161651
Veal Chop – 14oz/400g ($65USD) with jerk-herb butter and a side of sautéed Callaloo with garlic ($8.50USD) #SugaEndorsed

This Veal Chop from Sugar Mill Restaurant was well seasoned and cooked to medium rare perfection. Since veal is from calves, the meat was lighter and more tender compared to a Beef Tenderloin.

The reputable, fine-dining restaurant, Sugar Mill is rated Suga’s Best Restaurant in Jamaica to date and was the well deserved recipient of the ‘Restaurant of the Year’ award at the Jamaica Observer Table Talk Food Awards once again this year, May.

***Prices quoted attract an additional 10% G.C.T and 15% Service charge. Locals get 20% off the bill***
