Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce with her son, Zyon after her 10.71s win at the World Championships, Doha in the Women’s 100m final.

What an accomplishment for our pocket rocket, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, right?!

Suga cannot let another minute go by without Congratulating our Sprint Queen, Shelly, who won the Women’s 100m Final at the Doha World Championships in 10.71s! Her first major event after giving birth to her son, Zyon.

It is a pity Elaine Thompson could not give Jamaica the 1-2, but it has been said that her achilles tendon is acting up again with soreness. All the best to Elaine in the 200m!

Briana Williams opts out of World Championships in DOHA that Begins Today!

20190926_201949

I doubt that Jamaica will ever see another performance similar to the Olympics in Beijing 2008, London 2012 or even Usain Bolt. But we should continue to be proud Jamaicans knowing we have produced some of he best athletes in the world.

The World Championships begin in DOHA, Qatar TODAY! There was some drama surrounding the selection of the Women’s 100m team after Briana Williams’ hearing where she was reprimanded and then ruled as free to compete.

However, the words of Coach Stephen Francis were quite different. He stated that the IAAF has a Doping rule for 2019 and once there is an in-competition test and you turn up with a positive A and B sample for a banned substance, you are immediately disqualified, your results are disqualified and the results of any hearing or punishment does not matter.

So Jonielle Smith was selected to run the 100m Women, putting Briana’s trip to Doha in doubt.

Last night, Briana Willams posted that she is not going to Doha as follows:

How Much Do You Know About Jamaican Chocolatiers?!

One One Cacao

Nick Davis of One One Cacao at his Chocolate Factory in St. Mary. (Photo: http://www.asksheil.com)

• Founder: Nick Davis
• BBC Caribbean’s correspondent
• Currently working on Production of Coffee in addition to his Chocolate Bars
• Factory in St. Mary overlooks the sea
• Started making Chocolate after he got a mystery illness, where he could no longer eat foods with preservatives
• He never thought he could give up Cadbury Dairy Milk, but when he decided to make his own Chocolate, he told Suga it was the best he has ever had. The need for sweet preservatives or artificial flavours was replaced by an appreciation for rich, strong, Dark Chocolate.

• Persons who make the switch to Dark Chocolate from Milk Chocolate with artificial flavours may find it bitter, but once you keep having it, you will love and appreciate the richness of Dark Chocolate like myself and Nick.

Fun Fact:
Without getting access to Likkle More Chocolate, the majority of Suga tasters voted One One Cacao as the richest Dark Chocolate in Jamaica, May 25, 2019.

• Nick Davis wants Jamaican Chocolate to go global and be recognised as much as Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee, because we have some of the world’s finest Cocoa.
• Nick helps local Cocoa farmers by paying them a decent price.
• His Chocolate is 70% Cocoa
• Cane juice is used to sweeten the rest

Come see One One Cacao and support local this Saturday!

Outland Hurders Creamery and Farmstead with Jamaican made cheeses as well as Chorlavi’s with Homemade Pepper Jellies and Jams will be there too!

Suga Taster’s Breakdown!

As I pulled up to the new kid on the block, Kaluz Restaurant, I was eagerly greeted by a remarkably polite and well-mannered valet attendant who informed me that there was no charge, as they work off of gratuity.

Upon entering Kaluz, it had modern décor, it was breezy with dockside views and my party was seated right away. Our server, another courteous, yet quirky young man by the name of Andrew came over, introduced himself, briefed us on the menu and took our drink orders. About five minutes later, Andrew returned and took our orders for both the appetizer and main course. He gave us the rundown on each dish, ensuring there were no allergies. Everything was nothing short of well seasoned and divine, tickling my Jamaican roots.

Chorlavi’s Pepper Jellies and Jams will be at GW Art’s Exhibition!

20190919_040616_0000.png

Come View, Sip, Taste and Shop GW Art’s Collection at The Jamaica Pegasus on Saturday, September 28th!

The event will feature Cheeses from Outland Hurders Creamery & Farmstead, Chorlavi’s Pepper Jellies and Jams and rich, bean to dark Chocolate from One One Cacao to complement the evening too!

Chorlavi’s by Nella Davis Stewart out of St. Ann, uses less sugar and more local organic fruit, herbs and vegetables to create a tasty variety of Pepper Jellies and Jams. No preservatives and no additives.

Nella used to be a caterer, so can demonstrate how well her Jams and Jellies pair with meats.

Where did she get the name Chorlavi’s?

Nella went to eat at Haciendo Chorlavi, a hotel in the hills of Ecuador about 20 years ago. They have a love story similar to Lover’s Leap in Jamaica and she fell in love with the place.

When Nella went to register her business’s name as Gems, in honour of her mother, the name was aready taken. So she went with Chorlavi’s!

What’s Suga’s fave from Chorlavi’s?

I love the Pineapple, Mango and Carambola Pepper Jellies. They were balanced in terms of tasting the fruit, the spicy and the sweet.

I love the Otaheite Jam too.

What will Chorlavi’s have at GW Art’s Collection?

Chorlavi’s has such a range of Jams and Jellies, I can just give you a preview!
