Jamaica spared from Hurricane Matthew who is hitting Haiti

Photo: www.usatoday.com

Jamaica’s prayers have been answered and we have been spared from Hurricane Matthew. We were as prepared as we could have been and whether a lot of money was spent or not, Hurricane warnings should always be taken seriously and it is better to be safe than sorry. An hour of rain on Sunday caused flooding in many areas so there is a lot to be thankful for.

The eye of Hurricane Matthew is now over Haiti and some persons in Haiti are ok right now with power and just experiencing some wind, however Southern Haiti is getting a beating. The sea has gone into some of the cities. Pray for Haiti to survive this and to recover as soon as possible. I am sure various relief efforts will be put out once Hurricane Matthew has passed.

Back to work Ja!

Hurricane Prep Tips

Hurricane Matthew may not be a direct hit to Jamaica but it is traveling extremely slow, which is not good for us as we clearly cannot handle a lot of rain for a lengthy period of time.

For my Suga Bears not only in Jamaica but Haiti, Cuba, Turks and Caicos and the Bahamas, this diagram says a lot. Take a look if you haven’t prepared already and even if you have, check it in case you missed something.

Keep safe!

Who won the 1st Presidential Debate and why does the Loser still have a chance to win?!

I am sure most persons were glued to their televisions last night to watch the 1st US Presidential Debate with Donald Trump vs Hillary Clinton. Sadly it was mostly to see the show that Trump was likely to put on and did put on.

Trump failed to answer questions asked, made up words such as ‘bigly’ along the way and well, was just himself. He actually didn’t do so badly in the first half hour but as he took the bait thrown to him by Hillary more and more he lost the last hour making Hillary the victor.

They clashed on taxes, law and order, terrorism and more.

Hillary’s answers showed she did her research and also had answers as to why certain ideas of Trump relating to Law and Order such as the ‘Stop and Frisk’ would not work as they didn’t before.

This is just the beginning though as there are 2 more debates to come. Suga believes the debates will be similar and may even have a similar outcome, but it may not even greatly affect the result of the election. The polls may still be marginal.

Trump threw a crucial punch last night at Hillary saying she may have a lot of experience but it is bad experience, pertaining mainly to negotiating the IRAN deal, supporting NAFTA and more.

He clearly crammed a lot of statistics as he kept stating, I just read this and I just read that, BUT the statistics he wasn’t afraid to show were the thousands of troops who he claimed just endorsed him as well as thousands of others. Instead of campaigning with ads like Hillary, Trump is talking to the people. Grassroots Politics. We all know how that works in Jamaica. So this should be a concern to Hillary in terms of the tactics she chooses to go forward with and she should be concerned about her endorsement figures as well.

Until the next debate, stay tuned…Sunday, October 9th at 8pm EST!

What was going on with the Fashion on the Red Carpet of the VMAs last night?!

Horrendous to say the least. Suga still can’t declare a Best Dressed or even narrow down the Worst Dressed. There were so many violations of Fashion.

Joan Rivers is rolling over in her grave and Fashion Police on E! is going to have a field day later.

Well if you missed it, here you go!

What were they thinking?! There are a lot of featherless birds out there.

The Men were not much better either. Will Smith, please help your son.

Two did not make one for those that came in pairs. It was obvious Kim K didn’t even finish drying her hair. Blue Ivy looked cute but was spending 11k on that dress really necessary? I’m sure similar could be found in a costume store.

Although Nicki could hardly walk in her dress and I’m still not sure about Cassie, thanks to the ladies who did something right!

Congratulations to the lady of the night, Rihanna, whose last look was beautiful. I’m sure it wasn’t just me who thought Drake was going to propose while he presented the VMAs Vanguard award to her last night, proclaiming he has been in love with Rihanna from he was 22. Great speech.

Triple-Double for Usain Bolt! Schedule with Starting Line-Up and more for the Relays!

Screenshot_2016-08-18-23-16-23-1

No World Record last night but USAIN BOLT created more history completing his Triple in the 200m with GOLD in 19.78!

He didn’t run the curve as well as he usually does (because of the rain perhaps?) but ran a good curve nonetheless ahead of the field. He also did not power through the stretch and separate himself from about 60m to 80m left like old times, but that’s age.

It is obvious he wanted a better time but with the injury and only competing in the 200m once before the Olympics, compounded with the weather conditions and him concentrating too hard on his time, all factored into the result.

One step at a time Usain. The title was most important last night and Jamaicans couldn’t be prouder.

According to USA Today, Andre DeGrasse of Canada had talks about tiring out Usain in the Semi-Final since he is younger so should recover faster for the Final. He also said if Usain breaks the World Record he would be right their with him. Well, looks like he was the one who didn’t recover faster because he got the Silver in 20.02 after runing 19.80 in the Semi-Final. Suga believes their Bromance has come to a quick end.

Christophe LeMaitre upon finding out he won Bronze

It was a close call for the Bronze but Cristophe LeMaitre of France came through for it in 20.12. He has never given up! Adam Gemili of Great Britain was 4th in 20.12 separated by thousandths of a second. Churandy Martina of Netherlamds was 5th in 20.13.

LaShawn Merritt showed his age last night too (30 years) as well as the fact that he may have been too tired from the 400m and placed 6th.

So it is a nicely mixed podium and Usain Bolt removed all doubts if any and showed that he IS the G.O.A.T.

Moving on to later today, Usain will go for the Triple-Triple, where Gold in the 4×100m Relay will have him retire from his last Olympics with a perfect slate.

Young Elaine Thompson also has the opportunity to go after a Triple for the 1st time.

Note that Jamaica is the first country to have a man and woman win the 100m and 200m in the same Olympics!

Our Jamaican Men and Women will not have it easy in the 4×100m Relays with tired legs for the Men and a faster US team for the Ladies. But fingers crossed things will still go our way!

Starting Line-ups are suspected to be as follows:

Women’s 4×100m Relay Team

Christania to Elaine to VCB to Shelly

Men’s 4×100m Relay Team

Ashmeade to Asafa to Blake to Bolt

Lane Assignments are as follows:

Women:
