Kareem Tomlinson, Gabrielle Burgess a.k.a Suga, Michael Campbell and Jhanille Brooks enjoying Drinks by the Poolside Bar at The Jamaica Pegasus last Saturday, May 30, 2020.
I finally got a few friends to come and have some drinks with me in the open air by the Poolside Bar at The Jamaica Pegasus!
We observed social distancing as much as possible, our waitress was attentive and wore her mask and we wore ours to enter and leave. They gave us cute poolside table lamps too!
The Poolside Bar was actually closed a little earlier that day, but they had no issues facilitating our preference to be in open air and brought drinks down to us from The Blend Bar upstairs.
It was surely a nostalgic feeling to pour Drinks at a bar and ask my friends to pass the ice bucket with their clean hands. Then drink with just enough time to make curfew 😉 As Restaurants and Bars slowly start to reopen, thanks to The Jamaica Pegasus for never closing their doors with all necessary protocols observed, remaining Kingston’s preferred Hotel. We appreciate you👌ðŸ¾ðŸ» #SugaSnaps #SugaEndorsedÂ

Gabrielle Burgess a.k.a Suga at Shooters Waterfront on October 20, 2019.
Suga’s got more for you to add to your Post Covid-19 Bucket List. I’m throwing it back to a brunch spread that I thoroughly enjoyed at Shooters Waterfront last October. The live music was entertaining too.
Shooters was offering delivery and takeaway/curbside pick ups, but are now closed and look forward to reopening when the COVID-19 curve flattens.
Here are a few teasers until they reopen!

The Lodge Restaurant had an intimate, open air setting overlooking the Caribbean sea from the cliffside in Negril. It’s name is quite appropriate with its homey, wooden and log decor, similar to a getaway log cabin or lodge. So homey, you would meet resident Ridgebacks, Tensing and what looked like his brother. No need to worry though, once ignored, they stayed at a tolerable distance and quietly moved to the next table. The thatched roof and seaside views made you remember you weren’t anywhere cold, but enjoying island temperatures and sea breeze instead.
We caught Negril’s famous sunset and enjoyed the well mixed cocktails from the bar and the Grilled Garlic Lobster, which was the special for the night. The Chef’s grill is visible to diners and the Lobster was freshly caught, cooked and seasoned to perfection. The dish was delish!
Grilled Garlic Lobster
Most of the variety of items on the menu are done to order and seafood is freshly caught, but service was still timely and the staff were quite attentive and courteous.
Tensing Cool Runnings (USD$10): Whisky, Orange, Pineapple, Ginger Beer; Blue Lagoon (USD $10): Wray & Nephew White rum instead of Vodka, Blue Curacao, Liqueur, Lemonade
Cheers to visiting The Lodge Restaurant! I had a pleasant, memorable stay at Tensing Pen too. It’s #SugaEndorsed.

A stop by Smoked Marlin is a must on your way to or from Negril! I enjoyed my Hummingbird and check out my customized Smoked Marlin with Baked Irish Potato, which was just an appetizer believe it or not, but great pick me up.

Juniper on the Water offers valet parking and has both indoor and outdoor dining, but I can’t see why you would pass up the stellar views by the water to dine indoors.
They specialise in Seafood and offer happy hour daily, dinner nightly and weekend brunch.
Our server was a bit quick on taking away the menus each time, but other than that, she was polite and quite attentive.
Serving sizes were more than generous, as some mains could be shared for two. The seafood was fresh and the dishes were flavourful. We all enjoyed our appetizers and main courses, except for the Seared Red Snapper Fillet. Jamaicans tend to prefer Saltwater fish versus Freshwater fish and appreciate a bit more seasoning.
Red Snapper Filet (USD $28) – Roasted cherry tomatoes, charred cipollini onions, capers in a saffron broth.
Appetizers
Ceviche Mixto (USD $16) – Shrimp, Cod Fish, Octopus, leche de tigre, shaved red onions, micro cilantro, aji amarillo dressing.
The Cioppino (USD $38) (Not photographed) that was a Gulf shrimp, mussels, clams, Atlantic cod, lobster meat Seafood Stew served with grilled bread was delightful as well.
Seafood Paella (USD $38) – Toasted Israeli couscous, walnut pesto, calamari, mussels, clams, gulf shrimp, fish filet, chorizo, English peas, roasted bell peppers.
Their signature Seafood Paella lived up to its prestigious reputation. It was a steamy burst of flavour that I thoroughly enjoyed.
There was no room for Dessert, but Juniper on the Water is #SugaEndorsed.

My Aunt, Maxine Spencer visited Barton G for her birthday in August and highly recommended it as a must-stop destination in Miami. From what I saw, I knew I had to visit on my next trip with my husband, Randy.
Epicurean delights were served on eye-popping displays that only added to the enjoyment of the food, great service and ambience. We also had front row seats to see them all come out the kitchen.
We kicked things off with cocktails like no other!
Stairway to Heaven – Grey Goose Cherry Noir, Godiva White Chocolate Cream, Frangelico
Appetizers
The appetizers were so tasty, you had to worry about space for the entrees!
Lobster Pop Tarts (USD$29) – Lobster and Fontina Mornay sauce, Flaky Phyllo, Tabasco Hollandaise, Tarragon Aioli
The flavours and textures in the Lobster Pop Tarts were truly a pleasant surprise. There was even a hint of sweet.
Laughing Bird Popcorn Shrimp (USD$27) – Crispy Rock Shrimp, Sweet & Spicy Chili sauce, Popcorn
The Popcorn Shrimp had the right amount of crisp, complemented well by the sweet and spicy chili sauce.
The tender, juicy delish Sliders almost struck me out! But I wouldn’t allow them to do so. I just had a taste.
Strike Out Sliders (USD$36) – Wagyu Beef, Gruyere Cheese, Red Onion, Jam, Smoked Ketchup, Garlic Aioli, Black Truffle Brioche
Eye-popping Entrees!
Orange Salmon (USD$39) – Pan Seared Salmon Loin, Garden Patatouille, Roasted Pepper Paint, Herb Pesto, Fennel Chip
Randy Burgess with his Samurai Tuna (USD$42) – Ahi, Korean spices, Kimchi Risotto Fritters, Sweet Miso Butter, Shishito Peppers
The Ahi Tuna was perfection. Look at those cuts!
I have to confess that we also had the best Lobster Mac and Cheese I have ever tasted. It was divine with huge pieces of Lobster.
I thoroughly enjoyed my Risotto Jambalaya. A burst of different flavours with the best of both worlds, Meat and Seafood. Of course I couldn’t finish it, but I must say that the Okra and Spices were sensational additions to the dish.
Did we really have Dessert?! Of course! You cannot pass up on getting the ‘Dolla Dolla Bills Y’all’!

Mega Rich chocolate ganache and dulce de leche tart, under a gold brick shell that was torched off! Vanilla bean ice cream and golden caramel corn. THE perfect way to end the night. 💯

She also shared the Shawarma Flatbread, Grilled Lamb and Ember Roasted Sweet Potato with a friend. They topped off dinner with a delish Brownie and ice cream. With regards to portions, she thought you had to be familiar with the menu to be aware of what the optimal choices were, but all the dishes she had were quite tasty.
Shawarma Flatbread (Grilled Mushrooms, Pickled Onions, Spiced Yoghurt, Fresh Herbs) – $1250JMDGrilled Lobster; Grilled Lamb with Mint oil and Sundried Tomato Tapenade ($4900JMD); Ember Roasted Sweet Potato with Pickled Onions, Chevre, Herb oil, Goat Cheese ($950); Shawarma Flatbread
There weren’t many diners at the time, but access to Wine was slow. Service was decent otherwise.
The Summerhouse’s Veuve Cliquot Garden Party is a considerable option for dinner after work. It’s best not to go on your own though, as most dishes are enough to share. After all, it is a Garden party! The atmosphere is private around 6pm and more guests seem to arrive about 7/7:30pm. Their menu is posted online and Suga Baby, Tricia would return.
