It’s been weeks since I’ve been to Uncorked’s Sovereign North location, but I always expect delectable dishes paired with premium wines. I wasn’t disappointed.
I was eating healthy, versus hubby’s Gourmet Burger (all of them are good), until I had a craving for Cheese.
Our courteous & attentive server, Norjah recommended the Black Bomber Cheese and it was really da Bomb! We had Goat cheese with truffles too. Delish!
I paired with an old fave, Miol Prosecco.

During Love In The Time of Corona, Suga and hubby, Randy Burgess brunched outside! As restaurants slowly start to reopen, we jumped at the opportunity to try The Rib Kage Grill located in Sovereign North and kick-start Suga’s Birthday week as well.
Still taking precautions, we made reservations for their opening time at 11:30am and we were their first and only diners at that time, where everything was clean and spotless. We only saw a family pick up a take-out order.
Mandella was our waiter and the service was superb from we entered until we left. We appreciated Mandella. Another positive coming out of Corona is the extra effort to offer great customer service and for customers to be pleasant and thankful on the receiving end as well. I hope it lasts!
I don’t eat Pork often, but I have been craving their Crispy Pork Belly Waffles since they posted it. So I definitely ordered that, Randy ordered the Korean Chicken and Waffles and we shared the Smoky Ackee and Tostones, which was a tasty starter.
Smoky Ackee and Tostones ($1200JMD) – Crunchy twice fried Green Plantain topped with Ackee and Smoked Herring.
Crispy Pork Belly does not have much meat if any, but I would have liked if the few bits I had were more tender with melt-in-your-mouth fat after I got past the tasty, crispy char. My waffles were crisp, but I wanted them to be a bit more fluffy in the middle. So I was slightly disappointed, but it was filling and I was still able to enjoy it.

Randy’s Waffles were perfect. Stick to what you know! Golden brown with a huge serving of delish Korean style Fried Chicken. Mandella also enthusiastically offered us some freshly whipped cream on the side.

Of course we had to drink while we brunched! We had the refreshing Dirty Mojito and Lychee Lemongrass Freeze Cocktails. Cheers!

Classic Eggs Benedict from Eleni’s Bakery Jamaica [Ig photo: @elenisjamaica/@brischh]You wanted Eleni’s famous Sunday Brunch, but could not have it? Well, the Bakery is on lockdown until further notice and offering curbside delivery as they aim to help limit the spread of COVID-19.
Owner, Eleni Daperis, made quite a statement on the Bakery’s Instagram page over the weekend, highlighting the need to keep safe, especially for our children, for instance two of her employees who have children with dengue and asthma and there were no beds at Bustamante Hospital for Children to accommodate them. So we can’t imagine if COVID-19 spreads to our children, especially those whose lungs are already affected by asthma or are immunocompromised by dengue and other conditions.
The Bakery will sell bread on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 1pm-5pm and will be taking orders through whatsapp on the Bakery phone (See below) on Mondays and Tuesdays for Wednesday pick ups and on Thursdays and Fridays for Saturday pick ups. They will also make an effort to meet your requests for Pastries, or whatever you may need.
Eleni’s we understand and admire your stance taken in light off COVID-19. In the mean time, we will daydream…

Friday before last, after a long, hard week of work, I was ecstatic to let down my hair and finally see what the fairly new Japanese Restaurant, Roe in Sovereign North had to offer. Afterall, I have only heard good things, especially of their new healthy twist setting it apart from other Japanese restaurants.
It was already 9:00pm and I was quite famished, wondering if I could manage a wait seeing that the restaurant was full, but I was pleasantly surprised. My beau and I were greeted and seated quickly and they took our orders of Miso soup that we made immediately to fill the gap while we browsed the menu.
As a Personal Trainer, I was instantly impressed with the options of rolls available with brown rice, organic gluten-free soy sauce and low calorie air-fried preparation. Ofcourse, those options attract an additional cost but they were still affordable. Their menu also provided a calorie count for all appetizers, soups and salads and some main course items and specialty rolls.
I went ahead and ordered the Baby Octopus and Dragon roll with brown rice. The Dragon roll consists of fried shrimp, avocado, spicy mayo and eel sauce. My beau had a little difficulty ordering his appetizer, since they didn’t have the Squid Tempura he requested, but the waiter quickly appeased his disappointment by recommending the Ika Sansai Seafood Salad, that he promised to be just as good in quality and a personal favourite. He followed his advice and also ordered the Black Dragon roll that had the same contents of the Dragon roll substituting the avocado for eel.
The appetizers arrived quickly and were tasty. The recommended Ika Sansai Seafood Salad did not disappoint. A little while after, the rolls arrived. They looked splendid and were in fact just that. The brown rice did not take away the taste and flavours of the content of my Dragon roll.
I can see why last season’s winner of The Voice, our very own Jamaican songstress, Tessanne Chin frequently dines at Roe. The ambience is decent and comfortable, the service is good, the wait staff is knowledgeable about items on the menu as well as additional items used to give them a special burst of flavour and the food is delicious.
