Suga Lifestyle PARTICIPATES AS A SPONSOR FOR Rotaract Club of New Kingston’s FEED 200!

With the help of all who Donated and bought tickets to Suga Lifestyle’s Christmas Connection last December, you helped us feed 200 persons.

Last Friday, the Rotaract Club of New Kingston handed over Food items and bags of Clothing to the Marie Atkins Night Shelter on Hanover Street in Downtown, Kingston. They were able to do this with our help, Grace Kennedy, Rotary Club of New Kingston, Family and Friends.

We would usually to do a Health Fair and Treat for the Day, but unfortunately could not do so in light of Covid. So, our mission is to feed 1000 members of our homeless community by the end of March with Chicken, Rice and other food items. If you can help in any way, please let us know.

Kudos to the Rotaract Club of New Kingston as they truly love what they do and it has been a pleasure for Suga Lifestyle to collaborate with them.

#tbt to the AWARD-WINNING ‘Hands in Art’ Art-tivity Project with Suga Lifestyle & Rotaract Club of New Kingston!

#tbt to the AWARD-WINNING ‘Hands in Art’ Art-tivity Project with Suga Lifestyle & Rotaract Club of New Kingston!

Earlier this year in February 2020, ‘Hands In Art’ was a Suga Lifestyle & Rotaract Club of New Kingston (Ig: @nkrcjamaica) Arts and Entrepreneurship Initiative with Lister Mair/Gilby High for the Deaf. The Project also had the support of e-Learning Jamaica Ltd. (Ig: @elearningja).

‘Impact Through Unity’ was Rotaract’s theme for the year, which inspired the majority of the Art pieces the kids were guided to create.

All proceeds from their sales and part proceeds of GW Art sales at Suga Lifestyle’s V-Day Pop Up Shop in February went towards the students’ educational resources and the school’s infrastructure. There is still a need for more funding, for instance, to supply classrooms with fans that are currently without.

Congrats to Rotaract Club of New Kingston for being recognized by Rotaract District 7020 for this meaningful project, placing 1st amongst different Carribean territories! 👏🏾🏆#SugaSnaps

I am grateful we were able to complete this project together before COVID-19.

Immediate Past President, Alex Robinson, recently handed over a Digital Thermometer to the Principal of Lister Mair/Gilby High for the Deaf, which they needed to proceed with their CSEC Exams.

Rotaract Club of New Kingston’s work continues with Lister Mair, as they also handed over 30 Face shields. Communication is mainly through lip-reading in the Deaf community, so it is important for them, especially the teachers, to use face shields instead of masks.

Suga Lifestyle & Rotaract New Kingston’s Art-tivity Project with the Deaf Kicks off to a great start!

20200125_122144
Beyonce and Matthew paint their pieces after they completed their draft, as Matthew’s Mom looks on.

Part 1 of ART-TIVITY got off to a great start on Saturday! Suga Lifestyle (GW Art) in collaboration with the Rotaract Club of New Kingston is conducting an Art initiative with students from the Lister Mair/Gilby High School for the Deaf. They will be Painting, Tie-Dying, Jewellery making and learning customer service, marketing and entrepreneurship skills.

The children were quite excited and motivated, absorbing everything that was signed to them as they produced items from how they were guided. This project not only allows us to learn and communicate via sign language, but also aims to create awareness of the deaf community thereby reducing
stigmatization within the society at large. We want to create
new friendships through socialization and art and wish to inspire students to be more comfortable pursuing their dreams and goals without boundaries.
