NBA Playoffs Update!

The Western Conference Finals:

Warriors vs. Trail Blazers

After losing 2 games on the road and Damian Lillard suffering an injury of separated ribs, the Portland Trail Blazers’ season seems to almost be over after their 110-99 loss on Saturday night to go down 3-0. No team has ever come back from that. They fight to stay alive for 1 more game tonight.

The Eastern Conference Finals:

Bucks vs. Raptors

After the Bucks routed the Raptors on Friday night to go up 2-0 in the series, the Raptors returned to homecourt fighting. After 2 OTs and a lot of bumps and bruising, Kawhi Leonard (36 points) took over with Siakam (25 points) and Gasol (16 points) to keep their series alive with a 118-112 win.

Giannis of the Bucks did not show up last night with only 12 points, despite the effort by his teammates. He will make Shaqtin’ a Fool this week with his airball free throw and Drake trolling him. More is also needed from Middleton and Bledsoe. Props to George Hill (24 points) and Brogdon (20 points) who showed up for the Bucks.

The Bucks showed their weaknesses last night in a game they could have won to sink the Raptors. The Raptors will be sure to review the tape and return to Game 4 with homecourt advantage and a chance to level up!

We are READY for the Conference Finals of the NBA Playoffs!

20190513_055506.png

The Eastern and Western Conference Finals are set and begin tomorrow with Wariors vs Trail Blazers!

How did we get here?

Bucks vs Celtics – Game 5

Giannis and the Bucks took care of the Celtics easily, 116-91 to reach their 1st Eastern Conference Finals since 2001.

Warriors vs Rockets – Game 6

The Warriors took care of the Rockets without KD (injury) on Friday night. They won 118-113. Steph Curry was scoreless in the 1st half, scored 10 in the 3rd, then 23 in the 4th Quarter! Klay Thompson also facilitated crucial plays and scored 3-pointers when it mattered. Kevon Looney was sensational off the bench with 14.

KD was diagnosed with a mild calf strain since he left Game 5 last Wednesday in the 3rd quarter. A calf strain takes 7-10 days to heal, but he should be re-evaluated this week.

Two Thrilling Game 7s!

Nuggets vs Trail Blazers

The Nuggets had as much as a 17-point lead. The Trail Blazers broke a Game 7 Playoffs record for biggest comeback. The 4th quarter was all CJ McCollum with shots and blocks, scoring 37 points and leading his team to the Western Conference Finals to meet the Warriors.

Seth and Steph Curry will meet. This is the first time that 2 brothers will meet in the Conference Finals of the NBA Playoffs.

Raptors vs 76ers

This game was close from start to finish, but the end is what will be remembered in NBA Playoffs history and by the Raptors forever.

20190513_062333.png

Kawhi Leonard (41 points) hit an epic dagger at the buzzer! He threw an over 18ft high bouncer that bounced off the rim 4 times before falling in to give the Raptors a 92-90 victory and a spot in the Eastern Conference Finals.

Your NBA Playoffs 2019 Semifinals Update!

Bucks at Celtics – Game 3

Kyrie (29 points) and the Celtics couldn’t hold back Giannis last Friday night, who scored 32 points to lead the Bucks to a 123-116 victory and a 2-1 lead in the series. George Hill of the Bucks stepped up with 21 points for the win too.

Warriors at Rockets – Game 3

With Warriors having a 2-0 lead in the series, this was a must-win game for the Rockets at their house last Saturday night. It was a close, high scoring, competitive game that went to OT! But it came down to disappointing misses, including a missed dunk from Curry and a dagger of a 3 from Harden that secured the Rockets’ win, 126-121.

KD scored 46 points, despite the losing effort.

Where are the Splash Brothers?! Curry hardly ever shows up in the Playoffs, but if they want to reach the finals again this year, he needs to show up.

They play again in Houston tonight.

Raptors at 76ers – Game 4

With the 76ers up 2-1, all 5 starters showed up with double figures to assist Kawhi, who led them to a 101-96 win.

Embiid of the 76ers, wasn’t as dominant yesterday, but it is said that he wasn’t well and was hooked up to an IV up to yesterday morning.

Nuggets at Trail Blazers – Games 3 and 4

CJ McCollum and Rodney Hood led the Trail Blazers to a 140-137 win in and epic 4th OT last Friday night! The win brought them to a 2-1 lead, but the Nuggets recovered in time to level the series at 2-2 last night with a 116-112 win in another close game. Dame time didn’t occur for the Trail Blazers depite McCollum playing well with 29 points and Rodney Hood shooting a late 3.

For the Nuggets, it was Murray (34 points) and Jokic who dominated again with 21 points and a triple double.

Tonight’s games!

If you missed NBA Playoff games over the weekend!

For all my fellow Jamaican revellers or anyone else who would have missed NBA games over the weekend, here is your recap from Suga!

These are you semifinal matchups that promise to be exciting!

20190429_063743

Warriors vs LA Clippers Game 6

KD destroyed the Clippers last Friday night with 50 points to finally send the Clippers home. This series lasted longer than expected. Warriors won 129-110.

Nuggets vs Spurs Game 7

The 2nd seed from the West, the Denver Nuggets whose players are experiencing their first NBA playoffs, moved on to the Semifinals of the NBA playoffs Conference with their well fought win over the San Antonio Spurs, 90-86. The score is definitely not reflective of how the game went. The Nuggets led the majority of the game and had their shots going in. San Antonio played terribly, missing many shots, creating turnovers, giving up offensive and defensive rebounds. Somehow they managed to stay in it and kept it close towards the end, but it was Jamal Murray of the Nuggets that hit the clutch floater with 36.8s remaining in the game and San Antonio could not recover in time. Nikola Jokic was the true star of this series and ended it with a triple double in Game 7.

Raptors vs 76ers Game 1

The Raptors and the 76ers kicked off the NBA Playoffs Conference Semifinals last Saturday. The Raptors don’t usually win Game 1 in a series, but they rolled over the 76ers! They beat the 76ers 108-95. The 76ers just seem to lack enough shooters required to beat the Raptors. Lowry and Leonard led the Raptors to the win.

Celtics vs Bucks Game 1

The Celtics had Giannis a.k.a the Greek Freak on lockdown! I think the Bucks lack the depth to beat the Celtics. If Giannis can’t get past the Celtics’ defense, this series will be over quickly.

Warriors vs Rockets Game 1

Warriors won Game 1 104-100! Suga missed this one, but according to ESPN reports, the Houston Rockets felt cheated by the officiatibg and made it affect them throughout the game. It is felt that even with what they considered bad calls or the lack there of, they should not have allowed the Warriors to beat them with 20 turnovers.

Who has moved on to the next round in the NBA Playoffs?!

20190423_063907

The NBA PLAYOFFS had a predictable start, but the 2nd round match ups should be entertaining.

On the EAST side, the BUCKS will face the CELTICS. The RAPTORS should face the PHILADELPHIA 76ers. Even though the BUCKS are the no. 1 seed in the East, Suga thinks it will be the CELTICS vs. RAPTORS in the Eastern Conference Finals.
On the WEST side, the team most capable of beating the WARRIORS, the ROCKETS, are likely to meet them to have that chance. The TRAIL BLAZERS are looking good and should meet the winner of the SPURS – NUGGETS series.

Tonight’s Schedule!

The NBA Playoffs are on and Poppin!

IMG_20190416_071749_074.jpg

The NBA PLAYOFFS is on and poppin! Who you got?!
On the EAST side, the BUCKS have been blazing, the CELTICS are a dark horse, usually a playoff team and the RAPTORS should reach conference finals, but tend to choke choke choke.
On the WEST side, WARRIORS are still strong but Cousins went down last night with what may seem like a quad injury. The CLIPPERS erased a 31-pt deficit to beat them! James Harden and the ROCKETS always play well during the season, but will they finally deliver?! The TRAIL BLAZERS have been consistent this year unlike a disjointed OKC and I expect the SPURS to upset the young NUGGETS.

Stay tuned! I LOVE THIS GAME!

Cavs vs Pacers

LeBron James finally got that game-winning clutch shot when it counted versus the Pacers Wednesday night, carrying the Cavs to a 3-2 lead.

Missed Lebron’s Game-Winning shot?!

Watch “Full sequence: LeBron James blocks Victor Oladipo, hits game-winning 3 in Game 5 vs. Pacers | ESPN” on YouTube here:

Suga predicts the Pacers will be eliminated in Round 1 and the Cavs will meet the Raptors next if they don’t choke versus the Wizards.

OKC vs Jazz

Wild Wild Westbrook showed up and saved OKC from elimination by rookie team, Utah Jazz with mad moves. Series is now 2-3.

Rockets vs Timberwolves

The Rockets destroyed the Timberwolves and sent them packing. They play the winner of the OKC-Jazz round next!

Warriors vs Spurs

The Warriors sent the depleted Spurs team home. They went home with a fight though. No surprise there. Warriors play the New Orleans Pelicans with Rajon Rondo and Anthony Davis tomorrow night at 9:30pm!

76ers vs Heat

The 76ers sent Dwyane Wade and the Heat packing in fine style. They await the winner of the Celtics-Bucks series.

Celtics vs. Bucks

The Celtics and the Bucks are all tied up! Watch their Game 7 tomorrow at 7pm. Suga picks the Celtics to move on.

Games tonight!

How are the NBA Playoffs looking?! Some teams are all tied up!

PhotoGrid_1524485716250.jpg

EASTERN CONFERENCE

Cavs vs. Pacers

LeBron James has managed to bring back the Cavs versus the Pacers. He had two big games scoring 46 and 32 points. The series is now drawn 2-2. He surely can lead the Cavs to beat the Pacers, but if the Pacers stay focused and make shots when it counts and they really want to beat the Cavs, they can. LeBron has sent home the Pacers for the past few years, can the tables turn on him this time? Either way, Suga doesn’t see LeBron James in the NBA Finals this year.

Raptors vs. Wizards

The Wizards came back versus the Raptors in a heated game last night to tie the series at 2-2.

Celtics vs. Bucks

Giannis and the Bucks have been on a roll versus the Celtics coming from 2 down to tying the series 2-2 yesterday.

76ers vs Heat

Embiid and the 76ers lead the Heat 3-1.

WESTERN CONFERENCE

Trail Blazers vs. Pelicans

Anthony Davis and veteran, Rajon Rondo beat the NBA odds, leading the New Orleans Pelicans to sweep the 3rd seed in the West, the Portland Trail Blazers! They are likely to meet the Warriors next for a much harder series.

OKC vs. Jazz

Ricky Rubio of the Jazz scored the 1st triple double for Utah in the Playoffs since John Stockton! Rubio’s impressive performance helped the Jazz take game 3 and go up on OKC 2-1 in the series. Westbrook of OKC said in a post-game interview that he is going to shut him down!

Rockets vs Timberwolves

After a few close games, the Timberwolves finally got a win versus the Rockets. The Rockets are still up 2-1 in the series.

Warriors vs. Spurs

20180423_064801.jpg

The highlight yesterday was the San Antonio Spurs playing with pure heart without their beloved Coach Popovich, whose wife died. The Spurs avoided the sweep by the Warriors and routed them 103-90. Aldridge and Rudy Gay played well for the Spurs, but the man responsible was none other than 40-year old Manu Ginobili with 16 points! Manu is now 3rd in all-time Play off 3-pointers made with 321, just passing Reggie Miller. Ray Allen still leads with 385, followed by LeBron James with 337.

With last night’s 132nd win, Manu with teammate, Tony Parker are the winningest duo in NBA Playoff history, taking over from his past teammate, Tim Duncan who was also paired as a duo with Tony Parker.

They head back to Golden State for Game 5, where it is likely that the Warriors will wrap things up. But it was a good win for the Spurs!

Don’t you just love this game?! Stay tuned!

So, for those who would just like to watch exciting matchups ahead, see the Schedule for this weekend below:

Basketball – NBA

Athletes in the NBA have been plagued with many injuries within the past year.

The Star Forward for the San Antonio Spurs, Kawhi Leonard got injured in a game they won versus the Phoenix Suns last Friday. He has a partial tear in his Left Shoulder and sat out Sunday night’s game versus the Trail Blazers, which they lost 110-111. They bounced back without Kawhi last night and beat the Sacramento Kings 107-100.

While Point Guard, Isaiah Thomas (IT) has returned from his Hip injury to his new team, the Cavaliers and had a good start until last night versus the Timberwolves. The Timberwolves headed by Jimmy Butler and Anthony Wiggins, is a team to watch this year from the West. IT clotheslined Andrew Wiggins in the 3rd quarter when the Cavs were down 52-82, resulting in his ejection from the game.

Watch “Isaiah Thomas Clotheslines Andrew Wiggins & Gets Ejected!!” on YouTube here:

It is still questionable how many minutes IT can play in games and if his hip will last until the end of the season and the Cavs’ possible run in the Playoffs.

Another highlight of the game was when Tyus Jones of the Timberwolves got revenge with a huge dunk on LeBron James.

Watch “Tyus Jones gets blocked by LeBron but comes back with a dunk on LeBron James” on YouTube here:

The Timberwolves restricted LeBron James to a season-low of 10 points to win the game with an impressive 127-99 points.

The biggest story of last night though was a sad one. Kyle Lowry of the Toronto Raptors was out for a while last year with a wrist injury, also taking him out of the MVP race. After his return, playing like himself again, he had a nasty fall versus the Brooklyn Nets in OT and had to be carried off the court.

The Raptors still outlasted the Nets 114-113.

Prayers go out for Kyle Lowry with the hope of a quick return.

The NBA Playoffs is on fire! Why are the Spurs losing to OKC?

Screenshot_2016-05-11-07-13-55-1
Photo: www.nba.com

The Cavs await the Raptors or Heat for the Eastern Conference Finals after sweeping the Hawks. The Raptors-Heat series is drawn 2-2 and they will play in Toronto tonight at 7pm. The Heat players have been plagued with injuries but they still managed to level the series. Can D-Wade win it for them again?

The Warriors should beat the Trail Blazers in California tonight at 9:30pm to advance to the Western Conference Finals. They will await the winner of the Spurs-OKC series.

On Sunday, Durant came alive in the 4th quarter, the Spurs fell apart and KD won the game for his Momma, who is the real MVP. OKC leveled the series at 2-2.

They headed back to San Antonio for a crucial Game 5 last night. OKC led the 1st quarter 22-16. Then it was all about the Spurs for the 2nd and 3rd quarter. But in the 4th, putting bad calls aside with acrobatics from Steven Adams and Westbrook swatting imaginary flies from his eye saying he was hit by Parker, the Spurs failed to make crucial shots. In particular, Aldridge and Parker. They went cold. While on the other side, Westbrook was hot and unstoppable. His athletisism was impressive resulting in steals and speeding through the paint. His last steal, then the and-1 in closing seconds sealed the deal for the Thunder’s Game 5 win over the Spurs. Westbrook ended the night with 35 points, 11 rebounds and 9 assists.

81% of the time, whoever wins Game 5 usually advances in the series. With Spurs’ performance during the season, they would have been expected to beat OKC. But it’s always about match ups. OKC has always been a serious threat to the Spurs. They lucked out with Ibaka’s injury the last time they met in the Playoffs. Now Ibaka may not be as much of a threat, but Westbook is unstoppable. When he is guarded by Kawhi, Durant will take care of everything else. If they happen to lock down those two, there are Waiters and Steve Adams who will do the job. Steve Adams’ game has improved tremendously. Someone should cut his hair. Old man river walk, Tim Duncan has to be present for the Spurs’ defense and to get crucial rebounds. Diaw is not playing as well who used to be a key part of the Spurs’ defense and facilitator for plays and magical ball movement. Danny Green works hard but is not where he needs to be yet for defense, then the Defensive Player of the year, Kawhi Leonard can’t do it all on his own. Ginobili is a ticking time bomb. Parker crumbles under pressure. West makes too many unnecessary fouls and Aldridge fails to make clutch shots. Leonard and Aldridge want it but the rest of the team seem comfortable with their previous rings and accomplishments. Let’s hope some desire to move forward is ignited and they can force a game 7.

Screenshot_2016-05-10-17-04-55-1

Either way, the Golden State Warriors will beat whoever emerges as the winner and beat the Cavs as well, who will reach the Finals, to start their dynasty. Steph Curry is back and he came back scoring 40 points, 17 of which were in overtime. Or can OKC just upset everybody? They surely look hungry. Let’s watch and see.

I Love this Game.
