Who has moved on to the next round in the NBA Playoffs?!

20190423_063907

The NBA PLAYOFFS had a predictable start, but the 2nd round match ups should be entertaining.

On the EAST side, the BUCKS will face the CELTICS. The RAPTORS should face the PHILADELPHIA 76ers. Even though the BUCKS are the no. 1 seed in the East, Suga thinks it will be the CELTICS vs. RAPTORS in the Eastern Conference Finals.
On the WEST side, the team most capable of beating the WARRIORS, the ROCKETS, are likely to meet them to have that chance. The TRAIL BLAZERS are looking good and should meet the winner of the SPURS – NUGGETS series.

OKC and Wizards go home! Pacers pushed Game 7!

IMG_20180428_154055

Cavs vs Pacers

Last night was a blowout! Oladipo and the Pacers pushed a Game 7 with LeBron and the Cavs.

This is the first time LeBron James has faced elimination in the first round of the NBA Playoffs. Will he join Westbrook?

Raptors vs Wizards

IMG_20180428_153904.jpg

Kyle Lowry and the Raptors took care of business last night, routing the Wizards and sending them home. They play the winner of the Cavs-Pacers series next.

OKC vs Jazz

Rookie, Donovan Mitchell destroyed OKC! Westbrook put up 46 points but they were null and void without any help from Paul George, Carmelo Anthony or anyone else.

Mitchell was also without the help of Rubio, who had to leave the game with a nagging hamstring injury.

Spectular show put on by Mitchell. He gets Rookie of the Year over Ben Simmons for Suga.

Rubio may be out for 2 or more weeks, which is bad if they have to play the #1 seed in the West, the Rockets.

Stay tuned! Don’t you just love this game?!

Suga predicts the Pacers will be eliminated in Round 1 and the Cavs will meet the Raptors next if they don’t choke versus the Wizards.

OKC vs Jazz

Rockets vs Timberwolves

The Rockets destroyed the Timberwolves and sent them packing. They play the winner of the OKC-Jazz round next!

How are the NBA Playoffs looking?! Some teams are all tied up!

PhotoGrid_1524485716250.jpg

EASTERN CONFERENCE

Cavs vs. Pacers

LeBron James has managed to bring back the Cavs versus the Pacers. He had two big games scoring 46 and 32 points. The series is now drawn 2-2. He surely can lead the Cavs to beat the Pacers, but if the Pacers stay focused and make shots when it counts and they really want to beat the Cavs, they can. LeBron has sent home the Pacers for the past few years, can the tables turn on him this time? Either way, Suga doesn’t see LeBron James in the NBA Finals this year.

Raptors vs. Wizards

The Wizards came back versus the Raptors in a heated game last night to tie the series at 2-2.

Celtics vs. Bucks

Giannis and the Bucks have been on a roll versus the Celtics coming from 2 down to tying the series 2-2 yesterday.

76ers vs Heat

Embiid and the 76ers lead the Heat 3-1.

WESTERN CONFERENCE

Trail Blazers vs. Pelicans

Anthony Davis and veteran, Rajon Rondo beat the NBA odds, leading the New Orleans Pelicans to sweep the 3rd seed in the West, the Portland Trail Blazers! They are likely to meet the Warriors next for a much harder series.

OKC vs. Jazz

Ricky Rubio of the Jazz scored the 1st triple double for Utah in the Playoffs since John Stockton! Rubio’s impressive performance helped the Jazz take game 3 and go up on OKC 2-1 in the series. Westbrook of OKC said in a post-game interview that he is going to shut him down!

Rockets vs Timberwolves

After a few close games, the Timberwolves finally got a win versus the Rockets. The Rockets are still up 2-1 in the series.

Warriors vs. Spurs

20180423_064801.jpg

The highlight yesterday was the San Antonio Spurs playing with pure heart without their beloved Coach Popovich, whose wife died. The Spurs avoided the sweep by the Warriors and routed them 103-90. Aldridge and Rudy Gay played well for the Spurs, but the man responsible was none other than 40-year old Manu Ginobili with 16 points! Manu is now 3rd in all-time Play off 3-pointers made with 321, just passing Reggie Miller. Ray Allen still leads with 385, followed by LeBron James with 337.

With last night’s 132nd win, Manu with teammate, Tony Parker are the winningest duo in NBA Playoff history, taking over from his past teammate, Tim Duncan who was also paired as a duo with Tony Parker.

They head back to Golden State for Game 5, where it is likely that the Warriors will wrap things up. But it was a good win for the Spurs!

Don’t you just love this game?! Stay tuned!

Upsets Already in Round 1 of the NBA Playoffs!

Current NBA Playoff Bracket status:

PhotoGrid_1492490014944-1

Round 1 of the Playoffs have begun and we have already had 2 upsets. The Bucks beat the Raptors at home and the bigger story is the Bulls beating the Celtics in their house as well. However, even though the Bulls is the number 7 seed going into the Playoffs and the Celtics is number 1, the match ups are competitive. You cannot ignore the talent and experience of Rondo and D. Wade and the freshness and hunger of Jimmy Butler. This should be an interesting series.

The Pacers have kept close to the Cavs but have failed twice to overcome them. They don’t have what it takes to beat the Cavs this year.

In the West, The Trailblazers held their own versus the Warriors but the Warriors are just in a different class. They will keep the Warriors on their toes this series though.

The Jazz upset the Clippers to take Game 1 but I think these teams will go back and forth like the Hawks and Wizards in the East. They are the number 5 and 4 seeds respectively.

The Rockets rolled over OKC in Game 1. Suga believes OKC has what it takes to upset them but they have a lot of work to do.

The Spurs rolled over the Grizzlies in a Game 1 blowout. Game 2 was more competitive though, where the Grizzlies chipped away a 26-point deficit to a 4-point deficit. The Spurs regrouped and stretched the lead again to win and go up in the series 2-0.

During the game there was visible frustration from Zach Randolph for not getting foul calls, but it was their Coach Fizdale who was the most upset of all.

He went on a huge Post-game tirade on the Refs and is likely to get fined.

Watch “Grizzlies Coach David Fizdale was ABSOLUTELY TRIGGERED and GOES OFF on the referees!!” on YouTube here:

Coach Fizdale’s data does raise eyebrows but he should have quit while he was ahead. It’s not like he was playing a team like the Cavs. He was playing a team with class as well. ‘Kuwiet Kawhi’ is definitely not the type to cry for free throws. It just happens he got a lot.

Coach Fizdale has a ring from being on the Coaching staff for Miami so those Refs better recognize.

I assume they will come out hard at home. Hopefully the data is more reasonable for the rest of their series.

We’ll be looking out for the ‘They’re not gonna ROOK US’ T-shirts.

Westbrook is Now Officially the Triple-Double King!

Screenshot_2017-04-09-21-34-41-1.png
Photo of OKC’s Russell Westbrook: ESPN ScoreCentre

Oscar Robertson held the record for the most triple-doubles in an NBA season. He scored 41 triple-doubles in the 1961-1962 season with the Cincinnati Royals. The 12-time All Star was also a key player for the Milwaukee Bucks in the 1970-1971 season, helping them to win their only NBA title.

Oklahoma City Thunder’s Russell Westbrook set the record last night with his 42nd triple-double, passing Oscar Robertson.

He did it in fine style with 50 points, grabbing 16 rebounds and dishing out 10 assists in a 106-105 win over the Denver Nuggets.

Congrats Russ!

What’s Going on in the NBA and Who’s Making it to the Finals?!

First of all, Suga would like to Congratulate Dirk Nowitzki of the Mavs for joining the 30,000 points club and being the 1st International Player to do so. He joins Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Karl Malone, Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan and Wilt Chamberlain. Who is the closest NBA player in line to try and join the club? LeBron James. He may take about 63 more games to do so based on average points per game. Other players are way off with hundreds of games more to go.

Screenshot_2017-03-09-11-23-40-1.png
Photo: SLAMonline

Now to the meat of the matter. It’s almost Playoff time and teams on the chopping block are striving for every win they can get.

How are The Finals looking?

Eastern Conference

Suga believes the Cavs are going straight to the Finals again. The teams on the East continue to be weak and King James and the Cavs are just too good right now. Despite their last 3 consecutive losses, they turn it up when they need to. The closest contenders, currently a close 2nd in the East are Isaiah Thomas and the Celtics. They beat the Warriors Wednesday night without KD but they aren’t consistent enough. They should give the Cavs a run for their money though.

Main concern for the Cavs

The main concern for the Cavs has been not enough time to rest their star players. The plan to do so got a dent with them obtaining Warriors’ Andrew Bogut.

How so?

FB_IMG_1489101988478
Photo: Black Adam Schefter

He’s so fragile. Bogut fractured his tibia within minutes of his team debut and will be out for the rest of the year. Kevin Love is still out and J.R Smith is just returning after an injury to his finger. However, they added Deron Williams and Kyle Korver. Coach Lue has already started to implement a system to trim minutes for Kyrie Irving and Tristan Thompson whose defense game has stepped up majorly this year with 70 blocks and he still has more games to go this season.

Suga Finally Anoints LeBron James as King

Oh and yes I said it earlier, King James. The rain is going to pour and the gates are going to open because I have finally put some ‘respek’ on his name and anointed him. Timing is everything though and he anointed himself before his time, that is, before he even got a ring. I still do not think he is better than MJ, so let us not get carried away folks.

If and when LeBron and the Cavs reach The Finals this year, it would be LeBron’s 7th straight Final! I’m sure everyone would agree that is quite commendable.

There may be many times he may not be able to hit the game-winning shot and a lot rests on Kyrie but Kyrie and the team could not keep winning without him.

The best players are usually arrogant but they aren’t usually babies crying, falling to the floor and begging for calls from the Ref after every little hit or shove. So quit being a baby LeBron and you will get some more respect from Suga.

Western Conference

PhotoGrid_1489154250793.png

The Warriors have acquired Matt Barnes but at the same time have lost Harrison Barnes, Andrew Bogut, Festus Ezeli, Leandro Barbosa and Marreese Speights. They therefore have no BIGS in the paint. The Splash Brothers are no more because Steph Curry and Klay Thompson no longer play in sync as they used to and they are not unstoppable. Both Klay and Curry have been very inconsistent with scoring and something seems off with the overall chemistry of the team. Even with Kevin Durant (KD), Suga doesn’t see a Super team. I see a weaker team.

Hold up, I should say without KD because right now KD is sitting it out with a Grade 2 MCL Sprain after his teammate, Zaza Pachulia fell on him while his knee was hyperextended in a game on February 28th. Grade 2 MCL Sprains normally take about 6 weeks to heal but the Warriors say he will be re-evaluated in 4 weeks and could return before the end of the season.

Following KD’s injury, the Warriors suffered back to back defeats, which hasn’t happened since 2015. They suffered back to back losses again Wednesday night after they lost to the Celtics. KD was shooting the best in his career and led the team in points and rebounds per game. Sadly he can no longer be in the race for MVP because of his injury.

Suga thinks karma will come around to bite KD for going to the Warriors and all the players they sacrificed just to get him will go in vain.

If not the Warriors then who?

The San Antonio Spurs of course. They are currently in 2nd spot close behind the Warriors. They had a tough loss against OKC last night, especially when Kawhi Leonard had to go to the Locker room after getting hit in the head. They weren’t themselves last night but you have to keep in mind they were on a 9-game winning streak. They play the Warriors tomorrow night at 8:30pm!

Once the Spurs play to full potential they are quite hard to beat. This was proven on Wednesday night when they beat the Kings after overcoming a 28-point deficit with both LaMarcus Aldridge and Kawhi out resting. That win showed their Coach, Gregg Popovich all fired up. A sign they are going for that #1 spot in the West.

Also note that with veteran Gasol, Aldridge and Kawhi, they have BIGS in the paint.

The Spurs clinched an NBA record with their 18th straight 50-win season on Wednesday night.

Race for MVP

Screenshot_2017-03-09-10-00-06-1
Photo: www.foxsports.com

LeBron is in the race for MVP with James Harden of the Rockets, Russell Westbrook of OKC and Kawhi Leonard of the Spurs. It depends on how they define MVP but Suga thinks all roads lead to LeBron James for MVP, the Stats King.

To break it down briefly, let’s look at LeBron vs. Harden.

LeBron has better numbers from the field and 3-point line over Harden. He is actually better than KD and even with Steph Curry at the 3-point line. Let’s not even talk about Harden’s record for turnovers this season. Rockets’ defense improves when Harden is off the court. No MVP for him this year.

LeBron vs. Kawhi

Despite averaging 0.4 points more per game than LeBron, Leonard is a less efficient scorer. He shoots 5.1% worse from the field and 1.3% worse from the 3-point line.

Kawhi is known for his strong defense but surprisingly, the stats show that the Spurs are better defensively without him on the court.

Since the stats show that Rockets and Spurs do better and/or still win with Harden and Leonard off the respective teams, that rules them out for MVP in my books.

That now leaves LeBron vs. Westbrook.

Kudos to Westbrook for not crumbling after a bad break up. He has shown tremendous effort and focus in every game he plays and as a result, has led OKC to a spot they are likely to keep or move up by one to head to the Playoffs without KD. He does not have a good team and regardless of if they miss shots or good opportunities he hasn’t cursed them yet. He has shown he has prepared mentally for each and every game.

Steven Adams, Victor Oladipo and Enes Kanter showed their potential last night in a win vs. the Spurs. When it’s Playoff time, could OKC rise a dark horse? We’ll see because that was just one game and they played versus the Spurs’ bench in the 4th. This puts us back to the MVP race between Russ and LeBron.

Last night Russ tied Wilt Chamberlain’s record of 31 for the 2nd most Triple-Doubles in a season. Congrats to Westbrook but LeBron’s shooting is still better at 53.8% vs. 41.9%. LeBron is first for Field Goal Percentage in the league and Westbrook is way behind.

Also keep in mind that Westbrook is on a team that may not make it to 50 wins this season. MVPs are usually on teams that made 50 or more wins during the regular season

LeBron is universally accepted as the best NBA player in the world and the fact remains that when LeBron takes a breather, especially if Kyrie’s game isn’t on point, the Cavs fall flat. The same occurs with OKC without Westbrook. The difference? The Cavs are an excellent team with LeBron and OKC is a good team with Westbrook.

Excellence wins the race and so may LeBron for MVP.

Let’s see how it all plays out. Don’t you just love this game?!

73 wins was NOT enough for Klay Thompson. Game 7 vs OKC tonight!

Screenshot_2016-05-30-08-41-08-1.png

When many started to doubt the determination and winning spirit of the Warriors who faced elimination last Saturday night in Oklahoma, Klay Thompson led the team with 41 points to force a Game 7.

73 wins was not enough for Klay Thompson though. He made an NBA record scoring 11 3-pointers and imagine it could have been more. He said it himself when interviewed after the game. He missed a few good looks in the first half and was visually upset with himself. Then in the second half he just turned on the nasty.

Screenshot_2016-05-30-08-38-47-1

What happened to OKC? They choked. Plain and simple. Durant with 29 points and Westbrook with 11 assists did well but not great. In a Game 6 on your homecourt trying to put a away the Warriors so there is no Game 7 in California, you have to be GREAT. Both teams took a while to warm up in the 1st quarter, missing a lot of shots. Durant played selfish basketball in the first half. They still managed to lead by 13 and more at some points but the Warriors kept coming back within reach and closed in to be within 5 for halftime.

In the second quarter, OKC starters were in foul trouble then eventually both teams went over the limit. OKC failed to get crucial rebounds and for Suga, if your rebounds are not on point, forget about winning the game.

In the 4th, the other Splash Brother, Steph Curry came alive when it counted. No worries folks, there is no sibling rivalry here. Curry sealed the deal when he hit that floater over the energized, Serge Ibaka to take a 5-point lead with 14s remaining in the game. OKC marginally outscored the Warriors for 3 quarters but choked in the 4th with Warriors outscoring them 33-18. Warriors 108 – 101 OKC was the final score.

GAME 7 will be tonight at 8pm in California! The Cavs who destroyed the Raptors in Game 6 await the winner for the Finals.

Raptors level the series vs the Cavs 2-2!

What a crazy few days in the NBA! This is not a season to gamble on. If you are, bet the total opposite of how you would usually bet. The outcome of games have been wild.

Photo: The Score

Firstly, LeBron James won an Oscar. The Raptors came with all claws out on Saturday night to take Game 3 with a 99-84 win. The game belonged to DeRozan with 32 points and Bismack Biyombo with 26 rebounds and some crazy blocks!

Watch “LeBron James Flop vs Raptors |Game 3|East Finals| 2016 NBA Playoffs” on YouTube here:

On the West side, OKC destroyed the Warriors on Sunday night in their home town to take the lead in the series 2-1 with a 133-105 win. Durant and Westbrook were unstoppable with 63 points combined and the Splash brothers’ pool has run dry. They had no answers. Then the drama! Draymond Green needs to humble himself real quick. His stats for most annoying or disliked player in the league by NBA fans are going up as we speak. He kicked Steven Adams in the balls and the controversy is that he did not get suspended, he just got a flagrant 1, which was upgraded to a flagrant 2. If he gets another flagrant he will be suspended. He just might at the rate he has been going. He needs to take a page out of Westbrook’s book this Playoff season because the Wild has certainly come out of Westbrook. He has been keeping real cool and that is dangerous for opponents. That just leaves his athleticism to do the talking.

Watch “Draymond Green Kicks Steven Adams in the Groin | Warriors vs Thunder | Game 3 | 2016 NBA Playoffs” on YouTube here:

The Raptors showed up again in Toronto last night and this time it was all Lowry with 35 points. Biyombo had 14 rebounds and 3 blocks. He continues to strive to be like one of his mentors, Dikembe Mutombo who was famous for the craziest blocks in NBA History. Biyombo even uses his gimmick. They may say he can’t because he is not Mutombo but he surely is acting like him.

This block was one of the highlights of the game.

Watch “Bismack Biyombo Blocks LeBron James | Cavaliers vs Raptors  | NBA PLAYOFFS | 5.23.16” on YouTube here:

Raptors led the majority of the game that included 16 point leads and more and finished the game with a 105-99 win. The Cavs have now dug themself in a hole like the Warriors. How will they respond when they head back to Cleveland if the Raptors keep this up. The Raptors are playing with pure heart.

In other Sports, the French Open has started.

The NBA Finals start tonight!

Screenshot_2016-05-16-13-33-11-1-1.png

The NBA Finals will start tonight with Warriors versus OKC at 8pm in California.

All 18 NBA Eperts have picked the Warriors to win the Western Conference Finals. 8 Experts have predicted that it will go to a Game 7.

Tomorrow the Dinosoars will be up against the Horsemen at 7:30pm in Cleveland.

May the best and hungriest teams win!
