This IS Breast Cancer. Request the Test.

#tbt to speaking at UWI Mona Tourism Society’s (Ig:@uwimona_tourism) club meeting last week.

It was such a pleasure to share the knowledge of Breast Cancer, Signs & Symptoms, How to do a Self Test and most importantly, how to prepare for a Mammogram or Ultrasound.

Less than 5% of Females get their Mammograms done in Jamaica annually. Let’s change that. Spread the Awareness.

Do your Mammogram Ladies 40 and over or Breast Ultrasound, Ladies 35, not yet 40.?

Ms Carol Rose (Acting Director, Radiography UWI, Mona) with Gabrielle Burgess, Director of Suga Lifestyle Charities Ltd. on April 5, 2022.

A few weeks ago, it was great visiting my Radiography Department at UWI, Mona and donating some much needed textbooks to their library.

Followed by Rotaract Club of New Kingston’s (Ig: @nkrcjamaica) handover to the Marie Atkins Shelter for the Homeless.

Rotaract Club of New Kingston’s Handover to Marie Atkins Shelter for the Homeless last April 5, 2022.

Suga Lifestyle contributed Clothing and funds towards their Canned Food Drive.

Kudos to President Shanice Salmon and her fellow members of Rotaract Club of New Kingston for gathering a large amount of much needed contributions of Clothing, Food and Toiletries to the shelter that we support annually.

Next year we should be able to resume our full Health Fair Day and Feeding of the Homeless at Marie Atkins.

The Lions Club of Mona continued to keep busy in their community last weekend with their Bottle Collection and Recycling Project, a partnership with the Church of Ascension.

Plastics contribute to a large amount of solid waste and take many years to break down in landfills or the ocean. So recycle and help to reduce landfall, conserve energy and conserve the environment.

Kudos to the Lions Club of Mona, Mona Social Services and Church of Ascension, as they continue to build a better community.

Wing Sauce Competition and Farmer’s Market this Saturday in Mona!

Screenshot_2018-03-13-15-17-16-1.png

There are so many things happening this weekend! Not to worry though, if you schedule your time well, you can make it to all of the events.

Non-profit organization, New Kingston Rotaract Club (Youth arm of Rotary) is having their annual Wing Sauce Competition this Saturday, March 24th by the Mona Dam. However, this time they are also having a Farmer’s Market encouraging us to eat healthy and buy our local produce, while contributing to charity at the same time. It’s a win-win for everyone.

Judging and sampling usually takes place at about 2:30/3:00pm. Suga will be judging too!

So, after returning from the Jamaica Coffee Festival in Newcastle, you can make your way over to the Mona Dam. You can enjoy watching non-profit organizations battle to become the Wing Sauce Champs, probably sample a few tasty wings, buy some fresh, local produce and then head over to the National Stadium to see our Boys and Girls Champs. After all, the hot races are usually run in the late afternoon and evening.

You can then pat yourselves on the back for supporting Brand Jamaica, contributing to Charity and supporting our future in Education and Athletics all in one day. Scouts from some of the best colleges around the world will be at the National Stadium to watch and recruit our athletes.

Keep up with the New Kingston Rotaract Club by following them on Instagram @nkrcjamaica and if you are between the ages of 18-30, see how you can join them!

Stay tuned for your update on the Jamaica Coffee Festival later this week!
