Suga Taster, Kimmy’s Breakdown!
After a splendid day at Frenchman’s Cove, Suga Taster, Kimmy’s party was famished. So with two Canadians in tow, she thought it would be a great opportunity for them to view the exquisite Trident Hotel whilst enjoying a pleasant meal.
They felt welcomed from the entrance to the parking lot. Their server was quite hospitable and recommended they order from the Bottomless Prosecco & Pasta Dinner Menu for USD$30 per person. The options were limited, but enough for them to all order something different. After trying to get their Prosecco refill, they were notified that the Prosecco in fact wasn’t bottomless. However, due to the misleading menu title, they received a complimentary refill.
Their server was remarkably attentive and the food was truly tasty. After their meal, they received a full tour of the property and one of the villas.

Suga’s Breakdown:
The relocated Redbones has luxurious décor with bold colours greeting you as you step out the elevator on the 5th floor of the new R Hotel. The wall of photos and definitive Redbones stage sign that we know from the previous Argyle road location, were tastefully integrated into the new, more spacious environment.
The Restaurant accommodated indoor and outdoor dining with city views and quite an inviting bar lined off with high chairs for socializing. The only thing missing for me was a TV, but I suppose they didn’t want to interfere with the intimacy and ambience of the dining area. Perhaps it could still be considered for daytime viewing and special events. I would like to return and enjoy some of the items from their affordable Bar Snacks Menu to accompany my Cocktails. Our Whiskey Sours were on point. I’m not sure if it is in the plans, but they should offer a Wine List too.
The staff were courteous and our waiter, Malcolm provided smooth service. The Soup of the Day, a Seafood soup ($550JMD – cup) started off dinner, followed by exquisite, pricey entrees. My husband, Randy’s Beef Tenderloin was done to order, medium rare with a tasty coffee and cocoa crusted char on top. My Bouillabaisse was absolutely delightful.
Beef Tenderloin cooked to perfection!
The Dessert was disappointing, but didn’t ruin the experience because we were still so captivated by our entrees. The Bread Pudding arrived a little hardened on the surface and was too hot from probably being reheated for too long. I like my Bread Pudding warm and freshly baked with a crumble on top. However, it’s early days with room for improvement and hopefully more decadent Dessert options will be offered as well.
We were introduced to Chef Karey at the end of the night, who greeted us warmly. I was happy I took the chance since they just reopened, to ring in my birthday with exquisite dining. Suga will return.

Two weekends ago, it was all about the Canadian Food Truck Festival at the Espanade Park in Ontario. The Festival lasted from August 11-13, where the park was fully transformed into Foodie Heaven with 32 Food trucks, Music including Live Entertainment and a Children’s Village.
Suga Bear, Madeline Bayliss aka Auntie Mads aka ‘Jamaican Chiney that can cook and bake’ went to the Festival and had a ball.
Her ultimate faves were the Ice Cream at Chimneys and the Crab Cakes from Naansense that also does Fusion Indian.
The Crab Cakes were freshly made and served with a Chili Lime Rojo dipping sauce and Guacomole with a side of Spinach salad.
She said the Chimneys’ Ice Cream was amazing. They had freshly baked cinnamon sugar cones with smooth ice cream filled with apple granola crumble and chunks of apple pie, topped with salted caramel. Mmmmm!
According to Auntie Mads, the cone was like a pastry, freshly baked like a pie crust.
They had other Ice Cream flavours such as Chocolate and Caramel Smores and more!
Check out Chimneys’ Store locations on their website, www.originalchimneys.com. You can also follow them on Instagram, @ogchimneys.
Don’t worry my TDot Suga Bears, if you missed this one, there is still a chance to catch it in a city near you.
The next Canadian Food Truck Fair will be held at:
Location: Richmond Green Park
1300 Elgin Mills Road E,
Richmond Hill, ON
September 2: Noon – 8pm
September 3: Noon – 8pm
ADMISSION: FREE
