I am so enthusiastic to finally share the joy I feel each time I have Chilly Witch Ice Cream and Sorbet, notably after I earn my carbs.
So far, the 00-Heaven, a luxury chocolate blend made with One One Cacao’s delicious, rich, Jamaican
dark chocolate is my favourite.
Chilly Witch will be at my Christmas Trade Show, Suga Lifestyle’s Christmas Connection at The Jamaica Pegasus on Sunday, December 15th! So SAVE THE DATE!

Kushite’s Vegan Brunch was the perfect way to end my summer days. I was pleasantly surprised to see it was not a crowded atmosphere, but still had a steady flow of persons in and out of the restaurant.
I had the Steamed Callaloo and Waffles. The Waffles were flavourful and had the right amount of crisp. The Callaloo was delicious too.
My husband had the steamy Mushroom Paella that was divine. He had to share quite a bit with me.
Dessert
The last time I had Vegan Cake that was so good, was at Stush in the Bush. Well done Kushite’s!
The only complaint we had was that even though summer was ending, it is still extremely hot and only hot beverage options were offered with the brunch items. Nonetheless, we had no issues hydrating with their infused water.
Looking forward to the next one!

Jack Sprat Bar and Restaurant is known as the neighbourhood hotspot. The locals hit the rum bar or play ludi and dominos with music playing in the background. There were sufficient seating areas and I sat on the deck overlooking the sea.
They had an efficient system for taking your order and then getting your food to you in record time, regardless of the amount of persons there. By observation, there wasn’t the usual wait for fresh, grilled Seafood. The sizes of those fishes were off the plate! I had the Pizza, which they are also known for. It wasn’t the best or Italy’s finest, but it still hit the spot.
If you want to top things off, there is ice cream. Great, rustic, local spot for family and friends to gather, eat and have a good time.
Out of cash? No excuses, because Jack Sprat has an ATM! Jack Sprat Bar and Restaurant is value for money and is #SugaEndorsed.

Kingston needed another ice cream shop and we got it! Cute, ice cream shop tucked away in Northside Plaza with a warm greeting as you step in and great service. The workers seem happy and serve you up your ice cream with a smile as they should. They have a variety of flavours to choose from and give you the options to have with a waffle or two ($150 – $350JMD) and to add liquor on top for $150 – $250JMD.
If you are confused about the steps when ordering ice cream rolls, it’s pretty easy. Tell the cashier your choices as follows:
You will see your ice cream poured, chopped, spread and rolled on cold steel, your toppings added and voila!

Kingston Kitchen had Hope Gardens buzzing with activity last Saturday. It was a great event for family, friends and foodies to unite for the love of food.
The event was well supported, probably the biggest staging I’ve ever seen. The logistics and execution of the event was quite commendable.
Just a few drawbacks for me. One bar was not enough for the event and amount of patrons. It was overcrowded to say the least.
I also believe that our Gastronomy network via the Tourism Industry should have been involved with the event to incorporate tourists from various hotels on the north coast of the island. Kingston Kitchen’s Night Market would have been an eye-opening experience for them to see so much of our culture in one area and in one night. The event would also expose them to Kingston, as many tourists are unaware of the many cultural activities, beauty and places to go that exist in Kingston. For the next Kingston Kitchen, I would like to see them in bus loads!
There were so many vendors to pick, choose and refuse from, Suga and husband went with a hit list.
Here is a reminder of what Kingston Kitchen had to offer in addition to entertainment for adults and kids:
I am proud to say my husband, Randy and I succeeded. We definitely took note of places to try in the near future as well.
Suga’s Breakdown!
MUST-STOPS AND GLAD BAG BUSS
â— Stush in the Bush– A variety of unique Sauces, Spreads and Preserves made with love. Always a crowd pleaser.
â— Lucky Strike Seafood Bar and Grill – Their Seafood bowl is always a hit. My husband approves!
â— Street Food Saturdays – Fresh mint Lemonade, Street corn and more. They kept patrons coming all night!
â— Fish Pot – Flavourful, peppery Fish soup. Great gas buster to prep for food galore.
â—Simo’s Bread and Catering – Pastries, Soursop Popsicles, Dessert, Sauces, Seasonings. Excellent spread as usual from the main hands of it all, Christina Simonitsch.
â— I Love Paella – Rich, flavourful Tapas! From Valencia with love. Bravas, Croquetas and Empañadas cooked right in front of you.
â— Scott van Bonnet -Â New kid on the block from Blue Diamond Shopping Centre, Montego Bay. They had tasty Turkey and Lamb Wraps. Loved the infused flavours.
Coming soon to Kingston, Ocho Rios and Negril. Can’t wait!
â— Topp In Designz Limited – Foodie Gear galore!
Suga had to cop this shirt!
DISAPPOINTMENTS
â— Gypsy House Tapas!
I have never thrown away food at Kingston Kitchen, but there is always a first. Trust me, I tried my best to eat their Seafood and Meat stacked Paella, but I just couldn’t get past the dry rice that nearly choked me and lack of flavour. It was horrible. Chef Enric’s, I Love Paella still stands as the place to go for authentic Valencian Paella.
â— Soup King
They didn’t have any Soup for over an hour after the start time of the event. They seemed to have gotten things going later on in the night though.
SATISFYING STOPS #SugaSnaps
â— Lyming at Walkerswood – Mannish water, Curried Goat and more. Jamaican cooked food that goes right to the heart and makes you feel at home.
â— NCR Sheep Limited –Â Tasty Lamb sausage.
â— Rolly Polly – Ice cream for adults and kids. I enjoyed my topping of Bailey’s rum cream on my Strawberry Cheesecake ice cream. Delish!
PLEASANT SURPRISES
Gustazos BoothÂ
Patrons enjoyed their small giveaways, boomerang photo booth and money machine! Fun addition to the event.
Two weekends ago, it was all about the Canadian Food Truck Festival at the Espanade Park in Ontario. The Festival lasted from August 11-13, where the park was fully transformed into Foodie Heaven with 32 Food trucks, Music including Live Entertainment and a Children’s Village.
Suga Bear, Madeline Bayliss aka Auntie Mads aka ‘Jamaican Chiney that can cook and bake’ went to the Festival and had a ball.
Her ultimate faves were the Ice Cream at Chimneys and the Crab Cakes from Naansense that also does Fusion Indian.
The Crab Cakes were freshly made and served with a Chili Lime Rojo dipping sauce and Guacomole with a side of Spinach salad.
She said the Chimneys’ Ice Cream was amazing. They had freshly baked cinnamon sugar cones with smooth ice cream filled with apple granola crumble and chunks of apple pie, topped with salted caramel. Mmmmm!
According to Auntie Mads, the cone was like a pastry, freshly baked like a pie crust.
They had other Ice Cream flavours such as Chocolate and Caramel Smores and more!
Check out Chimneys’ Store locations on their website, www.originalchimneys.com. You can also follow them on Instagram, @ogchimneys.
Don’t worry my TDot Suga Bears, if you missed this one, there is still a chance to catch it in a city near you.
The next Canadian Food Truck Fair will be held at:
Location: Richmond Green Park 1300 Elgin Mills Road E, Richmond Hill, ON
September 2: Noon – 8pm September 3: Noon – 8pm
