Cutting it close to curfew a few weeks ago in Ocho Rios, on Friday, December 4, 2020, Calabash Itals Rastarant came to the rescue with not only fast, but healthy Vegetarian food.
They gave us eco-friendly takeaway boxes filled to capacity that we could not even finish.
We had their Curried Chunks and Bean Stew. Flavourful and Delicious. Truly ital food that hit the spot.
Big up KD for facilitating our late order and pick up!
If in Ocho Rios, check out Calabash Itals Rastarant (Ig: @calabashitalsrastarant). You can dine there too!

The Summerhouse at The Liguanea Club is no longer and JD’s Urban Pub has found a new home.
JD for Jason Delvaille, opened JD’s Urban Pub at The Liguanea club almost 2 weeks ago, on Friday, November 20th. With the closing of Summerhouse for some time now, The Liguanea Club was in desperate need to have a new Restaurant/Bar open for members, visitors and guests.
I hosted a small launch of www.sugalifestyle.com at The Liguanea Club a day after their opening and decided to try them right away after my launch with hubby and friends.
It was refreshing to see the staff genuinely excited to politely welcome diners and maintain attentive service throughout. It was quite a comfortable atmosphere and quiet, calming ambience. A bit too quiet though, some background music was needed. No worries though, that was fixed when I visited on my own a week later. They smoothed out bar and billing glitches the second time around and the food on both occasions was excellent. Adequate servings, great presentation, tasty and value for money.
I had their freshly made Lentil and Mushroom Burger (J$1500) for my first visit and last Friday, with my waitress, Keron’s advice, I had the Boneless Curry Goat Wrap (J$1200). That wrap was delicious! The meat was tender, seasoned to perfection and full of flavour. Bravo Chef!
My friends have tried and enjoyed the signature JD Burger (J$1800) and 6-piece Hot Wings (J$1200).
Owner, Jason Delvaille has made rounds checking on guests and gathering feedback. We know how important it is for Restaurant Owners to always be present. I have seen many Restaurants/Bars come and go at The Liguanea Club, but if JD’s keeps this up, they may be there to stay.
Suga is looking forward to their Sunday Brunch from 11AM – 5PM and to visit their Pub for drinks with friends. You should too!

After 3 years, I finally made it. Imagine it took a German friend visiting Jamaica to tell me about RafJam Bread and Breakfast. Then I was reminded about it by Jamaica’s 1st Blue Mountain Coffee Festival a bit over 2 years ago when they drafted their Culinary trail and posted signs all along the way. Look out for them!
RafJam Bread and Breakfast is nestled in Red Light District, Irish Town, also known as Backpacker District. It’s the Right turn after Craighton Estate, i.e. the 2nd Right turn after Cafe Blue. When you make that right turn leading downhill to RafJam, follow the signs and beware that the road is a bit ‘Raf’. But difficult roads lead to beautiful destinations right?! Indeed it did.
My husband, Randy and I, parked walking distance away so we wouldn’t block in anyone and arrived at the quaintest house tucked away in the Blue Mountains. We were greeted by owner, Susan, telling us immediately what was for Breakfast as if she was welcoming us home from a long trip on the road. It is indeed her home. Susan inherited her parent’s house and decided to transform the lush, tropical paradise into a magnificent Blue Mountain getaway.
I was initially disappointed that we missed out on the Ackee & Callaloo, leaving limited choices of Salt Mackerel or Saltfish and Baked Beans, but I was prepared for simple, Jamaican cuisine. We both ordered the Salt Mackerel.
We sat outdoors with an instant reminder of how beautiful Jamaica is. We overlooked, lush, green vegetation by a river and small waterfall. Tropical Paradise. Sweet Jamaica. Jamaica Land We Love.
Our Breakfast arrived and it was far from simple. It was freshly cooked, homemade, farm to table goodness! Salt Mackerel with boiled food to equip you to make a small climb up to see their 15-ft waterfall, and a side of fresh watermelon.
It was cold, but we enjoyed the freshwater river pools, didn’t take the clean, fresh air for granted and had a few drinks from their Tiki Bar before we headed back downhill to make curfew.
Upon leaving we heard them telling a few European visitors what was for Lunch, a more expanded menu, with more Jamaican goodness. We were very tempted to stay, so will return to RafJam, hopefully one day soon. #SugaEndorsed

Seating is in open air by wooden tables with the most adorable Cacti centre pieces.
The Staff is extremely courteous and attentive.
I loved that their menu is posted on their Instagram page, so I knew what I was going to order before I got there and I didn’t have to handle the menu.
They serve Coffee Beverages, Smoothies, Traditional Eggs, Pancakes, Waffles, Omelettes, Bagel Sandwiches, Croissants, Paninis, Crepes, Wraps, Pastries and more.
They have options for Lunch too such as Soup, Salad, their Signature Burger and Pizza.
I had the Trotter Passport with a serving of Eggs, Bacon and Pancakes with homemade Blueberry topping ($1050JMD +tx & 10% gratuity).
My husband, Randy had the Smoked Salmon Omelette ($950JMD +tx & 10% gratuity).
Presentation was excellent with a more than satisfactory serving size and most importantly, Breakfast tasted great! Eggs my way, over easy and fluffy pancakes. The service could have been a little quicker with us alone there, but I saw and appreciated that everything was hot and freshly made.
Randy had 100% Blue Mountain Coffee ($400JMD) and I enjoyed my French Vanilla Frappe ($600JMD).
Their Dessert counter is also quite eye-catching. I was full, Randy had their Bailey’s Cheesecake that sas decent.
We were offered a complimentary glass of wine. It was 10am but Why not?! They have other alcoholic options too.

Whether or not you like Green Juices, this is the one for you! Even though I eat and drink Healthy, I’m not a Green Juice fan. It’s usually lacking in taste or far too tangy. Chef Brian Lumley found the perfect balance between both, using a bit of citrus and pine.
The citrus and pine can be omitted for persons with allergies or for persons on a detox that wish to eliminate sugar entirely. No artificial sugars are used and notice would have to be given from early to have the juice without that tang.
It’s best chilled and smells so good from you pour it! It’s not entirely smooth, but that’s because it has the good stuff! Fibre! Fibre is especially important for those on a cleanse or for persons like myself who need a renewed energy.
I had Chef Lumley’s Green Juice a few weeks ago in between training clients instead of my usual healthy snack. It was a great supplement, with probably even less carbs and calories.
For the ladies, it is especially good to keep your iron count in check or bring it to what it needs to be.
If you weren’t distracted by Chef Lumley’s whole MOOD, you can see he offers a variety of sizes to suit your needs: 8oz – $500 16oz – $1500 1L – $2500 1.5L – $3500
It’s best if you just go Large, because you will want more. Chef Lumley’s Green Juice is #SugaEndorsed(The good ‘Suga’! 😉)
