Gift of Love is aiming to improve the lives of the students at Claverty Cottage Primary and Blackstone Edge All Age this September.

GOLLLLLLD FOR ELAINE THOMPSON IN THE 200m!
It was a clear win for Elaine in 21.78 (SB) but she was so focused on her own race that she did not even know she won.
Elaine ran a well executed race, achieving an important task of beating Dafne Schippers on the curve then still having enough left to step it up another gear in about the last 30m to pass back Schippers who went slightly ahead, keeping her form and running right through the line.
Schippers lost form towards the line, got the Silver in 21.88 and fell hard to the ground after the line. She was quite upset with herself throwing her shoes down after the race. She eventually recovered and went over to Congratulate Elaine.
Torie Bowie got the Bronze in 22.15. Marie Josee Ta Lou placed 4th.
CONGRATS ELAINE! Elaine achieved the Sprint Double which hasn’t been done by any Jamaican Woman and hasn’t been done since Florence Griffith Joyner aka Flo-Jo in 1988.
Tomorrow’s Lane assignment below for the Men’s 200m Final at 8:30pm without Gatlin who said that his ankle tightened up. Ask and you shall receive! Usain Bolt stated he would love to get Lane 6 in his interview and that he did!
Tomorrow’s Schedule:
Relays begin in the morning and look out for Annsert Whyte who we expect to medal in the 400m Hurdles Final in the morning as well. USA’s Clement is expected to win Gold that one.

GOLD FOR JAMAICA IN THE 110m MEN HURDLES!!!!!
OMAR McLEOD has done it in 13.05! Spectacular race, execution of hurdles and clear win! He kept his focus the entire way.
Orlando Ortega of Spain won Silver in 13.17 and Dimitri Bascou of France won Bronze in 13.24.
Congrats Omar!!! We are so proud of you! Although it was expected we know it was not easy to pull off with hurdles. Well done.
With so much excitement we are ready for tomorrow’s 200m Women Final Showdown between Elaine and Dafne! It won’t be easy for Elaine who ran 2nd to Dafne, easing up and failing to secure a good lane. Keeping in mind Ta Lou and Bowie won their Semi-Finals.

Yesterday was quite a day in RIO!
Shaunae Miller of the Bahamas literally dived for Gold to win the 400m. Allyson Felix had to take Silver. Congrats to our girl, Shericka Jackson who won Bronze!
Note that her dive over the line was not the first of the night! It occured in the 110m Hurdles for one of the athletes to make 4th to qualify. Paradigm shift?
Terror in the Heats of the  110m Men’s Hurdles. Deuce Carter had to do a run-over in the Heats to make it in the Semis as a result of the heavy rains earlier in the evening that stopped races after his Heat on the track, where he tripped over hurdles and got a time which would not have qualified without the run-over.
Leah Nugent of Jamaica got a DQ after coming 2nd in the 400m Hurdles Heats for her poor execution of a hurdle, appealed and was reinstated later in the night for the Semis.
On a lighter note, Congrats to David Rudisha of Kenya for Defending and winning Gold in the 800m! First man in 50 years to win the 800m back to back.

Diving (3m Springboard) Semi-Final: 8 am
Diving (3m Springboard) Final: 4pm
Yona Knight Wisdom did the dab to the camera after his last and highest scoring dive of 79.05 for Round 6 of the Preliminary Diving Competition.
After being 11th at the end of Round 5, he made the top 18 for the Semi-Final with that high score.
Well done Yoni. We are proud of you. Keep it going!

Yona Knight Wisdom of Jamaica did an awesome dive of 76 in the 3rd round to move him up significantly from 22nd to 12th. He then had a dive scoring about 70 that moved him up even further.
Top 18 divers make it to the next stage of the competition.

Elaine Thompson and Simone Facey both go through to the Semis coming 2nd in their Heats.
Elaine ran an easy 2nd to Marie-Josee Ta Lou in 22.63s. Ta Lou ran the fastest time of 22.31 to go to the Semis.
Simone Facey ran 2nd to Ahye (22.50) in her Heat in 22.78.
Dafne Schippers won her Heat easily in 22.51.
Blessing Okagbare also won her Heat easily.
Torie Bowie of the US came from behind and in an outside lane to win her Heat in 22.47 with Ahouré in 2nd with 22.52.
Great Britain’s Deajah Stevens won her Heat with the 2nd fastest time of 22.45s going into the Semis.
Winners of other Heats were USA’s Jenna Prandini (22.62), Bulgaria’s Ivet Lalova-Collio (22.61) and Bahrain’s Edidiong Odiong (22.74).
Odiong won the Heat with Veronica Campbell Brown (VCB) and Trinidad’s Semoy Hacket came 2nd. VCB failed to qualify coming 3rd with 22.97. She crossed over into another athlete’s lane again. Although she would not have been disqualified because it was on the strerch and she did not impede the other athlete it seemed to have thrown her off this time. She also crossed over into the lane on the outside of her costing her time.
N.B. Shaunae Miller of the Bahamas has chosen not to run the 200m and will just focus on the 400m.
Yona will enter the diving pool, the 200m Women and 110m Men’s Hurdles will start, we have a representative in the 3000m Steeplechase Final, two representatives in the 400m Final and more!
Does Shericka Jackson have enough gas left in the tank after clocking her PB of 49.83 yesterday in the 400m Women Semis and entering the Final with the 2nd fastest time after Allyson Felix to at least get a Bronze?
Can Shaunae Miller of the Bahamas overcome the great, Allyson Felix of the USA? We will see at 8:45pm tonight!
