Yesterday’s Launch was in honour of Suga’s late Dad, past West Indies Cricketer, Basil Williams a.k.a Shotgun.

HOME AND HAPPY: Jamaica’s victorious cricket team returned home on March 12, 1984 happy and contented after their thrilling win over the Leeward Island in the Geddes Grant/ Harrison Line Limited over competition in Antigua last Saturday. The team was met on arrival at the Norman Manley International Airport by members of the Jamaica Cricket Board of Control, headed by president Allan Rae and representatives of the sponsors, Ludlow Stewart of Harrison Line and Courtney Fernandes of Geddes Grant. Photo shows captain Basil Williams with the prized trophy (centre) and manager Bill Bennett (second left) in a happy mood shortly after their arrival. Others in the photo are Fernandes at left, Clem Thompson (partly hidden and wicketkeeper Prince Francis, left out of the final to accommodate Jeffrey Dujon, who was on hand to welcome his team members.

When he was up to Bat, it was said it was like hearing shots fired all around Sabina Park. A true Champion. A Winner. My motivation.

It’s how my blogging began even before Restaurant Reviews…When the ‘Worst Indies’ became the West Indies again, finally winning the ICC World Twenty20 Cup in 2012. I wrote ‘West Indies Glory, FINALLY!’ and he loved it.

I moved on from interestingarticles.com to start sugalifestyle.com with a friend, forming the acronym, SUGA from our names. Then it wasn’t possible for her to take on a website at the time and sugalifestyle.com already started to gain traction with Restaurant Ratings and Reviews. Persons even started calling me Suga! So it remained as such.

From 2013, now here we are, with so much more to come. Thanks for keeping up with Suga Lifestyle over the years. I appreciate all of you.

Please enjoy browsing the newly launched website. E-Commerce comes next week for you to shop! The Home Page is FIRE! Read ABOUT Suga Lifestyle. Many thanks to Sue-Tanya McHorgh of Suety’s Business Solutions (Ig: @suetysbusinesssolutions) for making my vision come to life and in time for the special day. Bless you! 🙏

Thanks to Hubby and Business Partner, Randy Burgess for always standing by me and helping me to soar higher.

Thanks to my ever-optimistic Brother, Basil Williams II, who celebrated his Birthday yesterday too, who always thinks I got this! Or there must be a solution …always seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, even if it’s far for me.

Mom & Pops-in-law, Veronica and Paul Burgess, who support me like their own. My Aunty Maxine Spencer, Kerry Croft, other Family, Homiez and Friends. There is a lot of work left to do, but thanks for believing in me.

Suga’s Breakdown:

After 3 years, I finally made it. Imagine it took a German friend visiting Jamaica to tell me about RafJam Bread and Breakfast. Then I was reminded about it by Jamaica’s 1st Blue Mountain Coffee Festival a bit over 2 years ago when they drafted their Culinary trail and posted signs all along the way. Look out for them!

RafJam Bread and Breakfast is nestled in Red Light District, Irish Town, also known as Backpacker District. It’s the Right turn after Craighton Estate, i.e. the 2nd Right turn after Cafe Blue. When you make that right turn leading downhill to RafJam, follow the signs and beware that the road is a bit ‘Raf’. But difficult roads lead to beautiful destinations right?! Indeed it did.

My husband, Randy and I, parked walking distance away so we wouldn’t block in anyone and arrived at the quaintest house tucked away in the Blue Mountains. We were greeted by owner, Susan, telling us immediately what was for Breakfast as if she was welcoming us home from a long trip on the road. It is indeed her home. Susan inherited her parent’s house and decided to transform the lush, tropical paradise into a magnificent Blue Mountain getaway.

I was initially disappointed that we missed out on the Ackee & Callaloo, leaving limited choices of Salt Mackerel or Saltfish and Baked Beans, but I was prepared for simple, Jamaican cuisine. We both ordered the Salt Mackerel.

We sat outdoors with an instant reminder of how beautiful Jamaica is. We overlooked, lush, green vegetation by a river and small waterfall. Tropical Paradise. Sweet Jamaica. Jamaica Land We Love.

Randy Burgess and Gabrielle Burgess, Owners of Suga Lifestyle.

Our Breakfast arrived and it was far from simple. It was freshly cooked, homemade, farm to table goodness! Salt Mackerel with boiled food to equip you to make a small climb up to see their 15-ft waterfall, and a side of fresh watermelon.

It was cold, but we enjoyed the freshwater river pools, didn’t take the clean, fresh air for granted and had a few drinks from their Tiki Bar before we headed back downhill to make curfew.

RafJam’s Tiki Bar

Upon leaving we heard them telling a few European visitors what was for Lunch, a more expanded menu, with more Jamaican goodness. We were very tempted to stay, so will return to RafJam, hopefully one day soon. #SugaEndorsed

Suga’s Comments:

Trotters Cafe is located at Park Place also known as the Golf Academy by The Liguanea Club, adjacent to the Courtyard by Marriott Hotel.

As you enter you are greeted by brightly coloured umbrellas similar to the umbrellas of Calle Angosto in Cartagena, Colombia. Definitely a décor win and a great marketing strategy for the current era that maximizes on Photo ops for Instagram and other social media platforms.

Seating is in open air by wooden tables with the most adorable Cacti centre pieces.

The Staff is extremely courteous and attentive.

I loved that their menu is posted on their Instagram page, so I knew what I was going to order before I got there and I didn’t have to handle the menu.

They serve Coffee Beverages, Smoothies, Traditional Eggs, Pancakes, Waffles, Omelettes, Bagel Sandwiches, Croissants, Paninis, Crepes, Wraps, Pastries and more.

They have options for Lunch too such as Soup, Salad, their Signature Burger and Pizza.

Trotter Passport with a serving of Eggs, Bacon and Pancakes with homemade Blueberry topping ($1050JMD +tx & 10% gratuity).

I had the Trotter Passport with a serving of Eggs, Bacon and Pancakes with homemade Blueberry topping ($1050JMD +tx & 10% gratuity).

Smoked Salmon Omelette ($950JMD +tx & 10% gratuity).

My husband, Randy had the Smoked Salmon Omelette ($950JMD +tx & 10% gratuity).

Presentation was excellent with a more than satisfactory serving size and most importantly, Breakfast tasted great! Eggs my way, over easy and fluffy pancakes. The service could have been a little quicker with us alone there, but I saw and appreciated that everything was hot and freshly made.

Randy had 100% Blue Mountain Coffee ($400JMD) and I enjoyed my French Vanilla Frappe ($600JMD).

Their Dessert counter is also quite eye-catching. I was full, Randy had their Bailey’s Cheesecake that sas decent.

We were offered a complimentary glass of wine. It was 10am but Why not?! They have other alcoholic options too.
