Throwing it back to Suga Lifestyle’s V-Day Pop Up Shop on February 8, 2020!
Suga Artisan, Christine Clarke, Owner of Blissful Dreams, stunned patrons with her all natural, luxurious skin and hair care products for the entire family. Assisted by Prudentia Hall, Cosmetic Chemist, Food Technologist and Quality Practitioner, Christine’s products are guaranteed to be all natural, scents are highlighted as they should be and they leave a strong, lasting effect. For instance, her Lotions are definitely #SugaEndorsed. I have the Coconut Ginger Lotion that leave my hands moisturized for longer. I have to wash my hands often on the job, but having my Bottle of Blissful Dreams Lotion ($2000JMD) close by leaves my hands feeling rejuvenated all day. I just need to use a small amount each time, so I can tell that the bottle was value for money and will last for quite some time.
Some other Blissful Dreams products are Shampoo Bars, Conditioner, Facial Scrubs, Male Body Bars, Beard Oil, Bath Salts and more!

Porridge is a great way to start the day, full of fibre to keep you fuller for longer.
When having Porridge, have Oatmeal or Peanut Porridge.
Plantain porridge has too much sodium and fat; Hominy Corn porridge has too much sugar and sodium; Cornmeal porridge is very high in saturated fat.
*When you would like to have Porridge the healthy way, ensure that Condensed/Coconut/Evaporated Milk etc. are not used and only Skimmed/Almond Milk are used.
The Porridge may not be as thick, but it is much healthier!
Recipe for Peanut Porridge by Winsome Murphy (Edited)
Ingredients
1 cup raw Peanuts
1 cup Oatmeal
1 tbsp. Flour (Preferably Whole Grain/Oat Flour)
1 tbsp. Cornmeal
1 Cup Almond/Skimmed Milk
A pinch of Nutmeg
½ teaspoon Vanilla extract
½ tsp. Salt
Water as needed (approximately 2 cups)
Method:
Place the Peanuts in a blender and process until it is almost smooth.
Remove the Peanuts and place in a container.
Place 1 cup of water in a pot to boil and add ½ tsp. of salt.
Place the Oatmeal in a blender and process until it becomes power.
Combine the Flour, Cornmeal, Peanut, Oatmeal in a container.
Slow pour water in the container and mix the ingredients to make a liquid paste.
Pour the liquid paste into the boiling water.
Stir until evenly mixed. (Do not let the flour get lumpy)
Cover and cook on medium setting. To prevent the porridge from boiling over, lift the cover and allow steam to escape.
After 12 minutes turn the setting to low then add the Vanilla extract, Nutmeg and Milk.
Stir until evenly mixed. Cover and cook for another 2 minutes.
Turn of the heat and allow the Porridge to slightly cool before serving.
Recipe for Oats Porridge
Ingredients
1 cup Quick Oats
2 cups Water
1/2 tsp. Cinnamon powder
1/4 cup Raisins (rinsed)
1/2 tsp. Nutmeg (freshly grated)
2 tablespoon Stevia/0-calorie Sweetener
1/4 cup Almond/Skimmed milk
Optional: extra Almond/Skimmed milk
Method
1. Bring 2 cups of Water to a boil in medium heat.
2. When the Water boils, add the Quick Oats.
3. Stir in the rinsed Raisins and reduce to low heat.
4. Cover the pot and cook for 4-5 minutes or until the mixture becomes very thick.
5. Remove from the heat and Stir in the freshly grated nutmeg, Cinnamon powder, Stevia/0-calorie Sweetener, and Almond/Skimmed Milk. Depending on your preference, you can add more Milk.
If you wish to add fruit on top such as fresh Strawberries, 1/2 a Nanana or Blueberries for added flavour or natural sweetness, feel free!
Enjoy hot!

Cellar 8 was the place Suga’s husband, Randy chose for the Valentine’s Day date!
He loved their menu, also endorsed by Suga and wanted to avoid places that felt too crowded.
Cellar 8 seemed to manage an expected heavy flow of diners for the occasion well by having two seatings for the night, 6pm and 9pm. 6pm was a bit too early for a Friday evening, so we appreciate being accommodated for 7pm.
From the looks of it, appetizer servings seemed small, but we came out on top with the Chicken Marsala Kebab served over a mixed green salad and the creamy Seafood Bisque.
Randy’s cut of Steak could have been bigger, but it was cooked to medium rare perfection and I thoroughly enjoyed my Seafood Thermidor.
Their Blackforest Cake and house made Gelato trio were a sweet ending to the evening.
With regards to cost, it was the usual high end price compared to if you chose from their regular menu, racking up a bill of about JA$20,000 for two if you ordered an additional beverage. Perhaps they could offer a Valentine’s Day special next year.
As a part of the earlier set of diners, service was managed relatively well. If there was any delay, we were made aware right away. The food was delectable and the ambience suited the occasion. Loved the brawta photo on the way out! Cellar 8, thanks for a memorable evening.
XoXo, Suga

The Belgian capital hosted it’s 7th edition of Salon du Chocolat last weekend from February 14th to 16th, celebrating Chocolate in all its shapes and forms.
4 of our local Bean-to-Bar Chocolatiers, Wouter Tjeerte of Pure Chocolate Company, Carl Sharpe of Chocollor Chocolate, Nadine Burie of Likkle More Chocolate and Nick Davis of One One Cacao were a few of the 100 participants that took part in the 3-Day event at Tour & Taxis. Amongst them were other Chocolatiers, Bean-to-Bar specialists, Confectioners, Pastry chefs and cocoa-producing countries.
Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Kamina Johnson Smith along with Jamaica’s Ambassador to the EU, Sheila Sealey Monteith accompanied our Chocolatiers to give them support.
Visitors enjoyed pastry-making lessons, recipe demonstrations by top chefs and chocolate masters, tasting sessions and a Chocolate Fashion show!
Our Chocolatiers did not only bring our Bean-to Bar Chocolate to Brussels, but they did well. Likkle More Chocolate and Pure Chocolate Company completely sold out and Nick Davis’s One One Cacao will now be available in Europe from Bean to Bar! They offer Chocolates from around the world and will have One One Cacao’s St. Thomas Coconut Milk and Clarendon Bars available for a limited time.
Congratulations to all our Local Chocolatiers that brought Jamaican Chocolate to Europe. We are proud of you and appreciate you. One Love.
