FINALLY, the anticipation is over and I was FULLY satisfied. Suga had a migraine all weekend, but I couldn’t help it, I had to dig into my box of Doughnuts from The Tipsy Doughnut! Was it worth it? Hell yea. Even if you wait a day, but BEST FRESH!
Scrumptious, moist goodness, full of flavour and so wholesome!
The Peanut Butter Bourbon took me straight back to NOLA and the Drunken Tiramisu was absolute heaven. My only complaint? More liquor please!
Stay tuned for the specially filled September doughnut, those are what I love even more. In the mean time, see ALL the flavours they have here!

Last Tuesday, Suga Taster, Randy Burgess ordered Rainforest Seafoods’ NEW Tuna Poke Bowl for Lunch. He thought it was definitely filling, as it had a healthy serving of Veggies: carrot, cucumber, radish, snow peas and Edamame. Additionally, it had a good serving size of Tuna and sticky Sushi Rice. The Tuna was spicy since it was drizzled with Sriracha sauce, but the Veggies cooled down the palate and everything was fresh!
Was it Value for Money?
Randy thought the cost was way too much with delivery, but tasted good. By ordering through the Pekkish App, the Tuna Poke Bowl costed $1960JMD, but $2754.00JMD when delivery and service charges were added.
Any Suggestions for Rainforest Seafoods?
Suga Taster, Randy would love to see a Salad option with no rice and an option to pick up at the Crossroads branch.
Rainforest Seafoods also offers Smoked and Cooked Salmon Poke Bowls, Raw and Cooked Rolls, Sushi Platters and Bento Boxes (Japanese Lunch Boxes) exclusively through Pekkish Jamaica in Kingston for delivery and in Montego Bay at the Seafood Market, which offers Free Delivery.

During Love in the Time of Corona, some of us are getting tired of cooking. All foodies know Alexa Von Strolley is that culinary artist who’s never afraid to wow our minds and surprise our taste buds, leaving her patrons wondering how she thought of this while leaving us begging for more. When I heard about Tooksie’s Canteen, I browsed the Instagram page and started to order.
ÂÂ
Tooksie’s Canteen operates Wednesdays to Fridays. The menu options change weekly. For each day there is usually one light option, such as a Salad or Flat Bread, two heavier options and a sweet treat. You order and pay online, which helps significantly with reducing human interaction, and you pick up at noon. I ordered on Instagram, received an email with the invoice and made payment via Sagicor e-banking.
ÂÂ
I ordered the In-n-Out Burger and Crack pie for Wednesday, Oxtail and Fish tacos on Thursday and Tuna Tataki Pizza and Tea-ramisu for Friday.
ÂÂ
Wednesday
The In-n-Out Burger was a tasty juicy American burger with lots of American cheddar cheese and fries. The fries and bread were clearly done on my arrival. Despite the juicy, cheesy burger, no soggy bread ‘roun here! Also the crispiest fries I’ve had in years. I expected the burger to be something out of the ordinary, but it was ordinary.
Sidenote: The Burger I had from Alexa the week before though, was heaven!
The Crack Pie was amazing! It tasted like danish butter cookies made into moist sweet indulgence. So addictive. I immediately understood how this American dessert got its name.
ÂÂ
Thursday
The Oxtail taco was perfect! Tender meat and a loud flavour with a kick of something I couldn’t put my finger on. It was delicious.
The Fish taco had too much batter for me, but once I squeezed the lime provided on the Fish, the bold flavour combinations completely outshone the batter.
ÂÂ
Friday
The Tuna Tataki Pizza was fresh and exciting, spicy but not peppery. I wish I ordered more! This dish was a reminder of Alexa’s versatility as a chef.
The Tea-ramisu was like a green tea tiramisu. Very interesting, unexpected and refreshing.
ÂÂ
Chef Alexa Von Strolley is as cute as her logo, but her food is LOUD, BOLD and BRAVE. Each meal tasted fresh and specially prepared. Her prices are comparable to mid-priced restaurants and the wait time is five minutes or less.ÂÂ

Sunday’s cool, breezy afternoon was perfect for savoury bites and bubbly to celebrate International Women’s Day and contribute to the Canadian Women’s Club of Jamaica’s outreach projects.
Chez Maria’s Vegetarian Pumpkin Kibbeh Cups with hummus on top was both healthy and scrumptious. The winner for seconds if watching your calories. They were paired with Select Brands’ Primal Roots California Red.
Cannonball’s Antipasto Skewer with Lomo, Olive, Tomato, Mozzarella and Mushroom Tortelini was a myriad of flavours that balanced each other well and even further with Harbour Wines’ Columbia Crest Cabernet Sauvignon.
Chocolate Dreams
You have to top off the evening with some sweet! I didn’t mind the spicy either. Chocolate Dreams outdid themselves with their Scotch Bonnet Caramel Fudge and Pistacio Chocolate Bites. Their entire spread was worth the calories. If you like sweet wines, the Roscato Sweet Red courtesy of Harbour Wines was a great choice.
Great evening filled with Vino, Savoury bites and Beautiful Women. Value for money with Proceeds to a great cause. Well done Canadian Women’s Club of Jamaica. #SugaEndorsed

This Suga Taster went to the Fort Lauderdale location a few years ago in September 2016 for a Birthday dinner and remembered how good the food was, so she decided to try the new location which was closer to her. She was quite disappointed though!
Appetizer
Drink
The Lemonade was fresh and made to order, with mint and Limoncello (liqueur).
This sure looks good, but my Suga Taster found the sauce to be quite salty.
It seemed like the Lobster meat was not previously removed from the shell, cooked, sauced and replaced for service, because this Suga Taster had difficulty removing the Lobster from the shell with a knife and fork. After all, this was not a restaurant that required a bib.
This dish was the pleaser with an abundance of Crab meat. No complaints for this one.
Desserts
Dinner came to a decent close as my Suga Taster’s family were delighted with their dessert that had just the right amount of sweet.

Tricia relished in the ambience of the Summerhouse at The Liguanea Club and particularly enjoyed her Insalata Caprese and Grilled Lobster.
She also shared the Shawarma Flatbread, Grilled Lamb and Ember Roasted Sweet Potato with a friend. They topped off dinner with a delish Brownie and ice cream. With regards to portions, she thought you had to be familiar with the menu to be aware of what the optimal choices were, but all the dishes she had were quite tasty.
There weren’t many diners at the time, but access to Wine was slow. Service was decent otherwise.
The Summerhouse’s Veuve Cliquot Garden Party is a considerable option for dinner after work. It’s best not to go on your own though, as most dishes are enough to share. After all, it is a Garden party! The atmosphere is private around 6pm and more guests seem to arrive about 7/7:30pm. Their menu is posted online and Suga Baby, Tricia would return.
