It’s World Polio Day! Help Eradicate Polio from the 3 Countries left with it in the World

It’s World Polio Day. In 1988, the Polio virus was endemic to 125 countries.
Today, only 3 countries in the world have never stopped the transmission of Polio- Pakistan, Afghanistan and    Nigeria. Despite the progress achieved since 1988, as long as a single child remains infected with Poliovirus, children in all countries are at risk of contracting the disease.

According to CDC Global Health, Polio, or poliomyelitis, is a crippling and potentially deadly infectious disease. It is caused by the poliovirus. The virus spreads from person to person and can invade an infected person’s brain and spinal cord, causing paralysis, where persons cannot move parts of the body.

There is NO cure for Polio, but vaccines can protect a child for life.

Today is D-Day for Lionel Messi and Argentina!

20180626_012627.jpg

Argentina’s coach has been sidelined!  He has allegedly been putting players in positions they are not accustomed to or played in, hence the poor results so far. Messi and his team will be in charge of choosing persons to play versus Nigeria today in their match of elimination, since they currently sit at the bottom of the table. A convincing win over Nigeria is a MUST, but Argentina’s fate of moving beyond the group stage also depends on the Croatia-Iceland match.

So Denmark and Australia will play hard to move on from Group C today as they face France and Peru respectively at 9am Ja time, but all eyes will be on Group D at 1pm Ja time!

Keep Calm, World Cup will be back on Friday. Check Current Situation and Schedule here!

Quarterfinals begin this Friday with France vs Germany!

The Round of 16 was certainly full of Drama. Did the big teams underestimate the skill set of the underdogs?! Nevertheless the favourites still made it through but it took 2 games with Penalty shoot outs and 3 games that went into Overtime out of 8 games total. Wow! Definitely a World Cup to remember.

Stay tuned for more.

What a weekend! Check out how the World Cup is going here!

What an action packed weekend with football!

The Maracana dream was kept alive for Brazil, Netherlands and Costa Rica who had close encounters with their opponents with even 2 of the matches consisting of Penalty shoot outs. Painful losses for Chile, Mexico and Greece, as their World Cup is now over.

The dream was also kept alive for Columbia that cruised to victory sending Uruguay home with 2 goals by James Rodriguez, of which the first is arguably the best goal in the World Cup so far. He was even trending on Google Circles and is certainly one to watch.

The excitement continues today with France vs Nigeria and Germany vs Algeria.
