Last Saturday, as a result of Proceeds from our Yoga for Charity session at the recently held Suga Lifestyle’s Art & Lifestyle Expo, we fed all the Residents at the Marie Atkins Shelter on Hanover Street in Downtown, Kingston.

Here are the Highlights of a Great Day:

We were so happy that the Residents were receptive and greatly appreciated the authentic Jamaican flavour we brought to them for Lunch time with Shelldung Kitchen Seasonings’ JTz Kitchen Catering of good ol’ Stew Chicken, Mac Salad and Rice and Peas, where they could come for seconds, complemented by Uncle Nehe’s Bush Alternatives’ Jamaican Snacks and Chocolate Tea, so close to our Jamaican heritage.

This was a joint effort with Rotary Club of Downtown Kingston (Ig: @rotaryclubdwntwnkgn) and we thank Councillor Charmaine Daniels of the KSAMC for assisting, stepping in on behalf of Mayor Andrew Swaby and of course, Ms. Donna-Gaye Brady for accommodating us and welcoming us with open arms every time.

It was our absolute pleasure to share Our Emancipendence with the Residents and we will be back.

Rotaract Clubs of Kingston and Grand Turk Partner to Feed the Homeless for Labour Day

The Care Package Giveaway Part II on Labour Day was a success. The Rotaract club of Grand Turk from the Turks and Caicos Islands assisted the Rotaract Club of Kingston in purchasing packages for the homeless. 132 packages were distributed to each homeless person seen, compared to 64 packages in Part I, where 121 were full packages containing crackers, tin food, a drink and soap and 11 were smaller packages containing tin food.

Rotaractors branched out into teams and packages were distributed by the Supreme Court, then by Duke Street and Parade, on the way to Crossroads and then all teams settled by Silver Slipper Plaza, where the remainder of the packages were distributed.

The recipients of the packages were truly grateful and a wider cross-section of persons were reached this time around.
