Argentina’s coach has been sidelined! He has allegedly been putting players in positions they are not accustomed to or played in, hence the poor results so far. Messi and his team will be in charge of choosing persons to play versus Nigeria today in their match of elimination, since they currently sit at the bottom of the table. A convincing win over Nigeria is a MUST, but Argentina’s fate of moving beyond the group stage also depends on the Croatia-Iceland match.
So Denmark and Australia will play hard to move on from Group C today as they face France and Peru respectively at 9am Ja time, but all eyes will be on Group D at 1pm Ja time!

Alia Atkinson swims in the Final of the 100m Breastroke tonight with the 5th fastest time of 1:06.52.
What exactly are Alia’s chances to medal in the event?
Let us recap the London 2012 Olympics where she came 4th with a time of 1:06.93.
Rūta  Meilutytė of Lithuania is currently the World Record holder. She set the World record of 1:02.36 at the 2013 FINA World Championships in Moscow. Of the medallists in London 2012, she is the only one that has returned to the Finals in Rio.
At the London 2012 Olympics, she was just 15 years old. By age 17, she was the first and only to win all possible swimming titles in all age groups.
She has been looking pretty consistent over the years at the different European Championships with times of 1.04.35 etc. She also edged out Alia at the 2015 World Championships in Kazan taking the silver and Alia, bronze.
How did she look in the Semis in Rio?
How did the others look in Alia’s Semi Final?
So, the questions are, how fast can Lilly King, Shi  Jinglin, Katie Meili and Yulia Efinova really go? And what kind of shape is World record holder, Rūta  Meilutytė in? Has she just been taking it easy? Has Alia just been taking it easy as well?
Because Alia is also capable of swimming as fast as RÅ«ta, which I don’t believe the others have proven just yet. Alia won the gold at the World Championships in DOHA 2014, beating RÅ«ta who got the silver. Alia not only won the gold but equalled RÅ«ta’s World record time of 1:02.36, which is now her Personal best.
If Alia swims even just a second slower than her Personal best in the Finals tonight, she is contention of not only an Olympic medal but that Olympic Gold medal.
Let’s go Alia! Strive for GOLD. You can do it!
In other RIO 2016 News,
GYMNASTICS:
Jamaica’s Toni-Ann Williams took Jamaican Gymnastics to the world, ending her floor routine with the famous Usain Bolt, ‘To di Worl’ pose. However she did not make it to the next round. Her weakest event was the uneven bars but she had a strong vault with 14.1 being her highest score. Great floor routine but low degree of difficulty, which factors into the scoring. The beam was ok for her as well. She remains in good spirits hoping she encouraged others from Ja and will see Gymnastics improve in Jamaica. Well tried Toni-Ann, you made history and made Jamaica proud.
TENNIS
Juan MartÃn del Potro of Argentina upset World No. 1 Novak Djokovic from Serbia with a 7-6(4), 7-6 (2) win after being stuck in an elevator for 40 minutes before the match. The power went out, he had no phone signal and had no choice but to yell for help. He was rescued by his Argentinian handball team, nicknamed, ‘The Gladiators’.
Juan’s biggest accomplishment was winning the 2009 US Open, defeating Rafael Nadal in the Semifinal and Roger Federer in the Final.
Congrats to Chile on their 2nd COPA America title and to Alexis Sanchez for winning the Golden Ball!
This COPA America final was dramatic from start to finish with Chile’s Diaz getting a red card early (28′), which he didn’t deserve, then the referee seemed to even things up about 10 minutes later, giving Argentina’s Rojo a red card, who didn’t deserve a red card either in my opinion.
Both teams battled back and forth with 10 men, hardly any shots on goal, neither really controlling possession and then Argentina eventually took control of the game for a short period of time. Both teams were scoreless at 90 minutes, it went into Extra time and the scoreline remained nil all.
The Final then went to Penalties. We all know that Chile’s Goalkeeper, Claudio Bravo (who won the Golden Glove) would save at least one, so more pressure was on Argentina.
Then the heartache came as Captain Lionel Messi stepped up first as usual to lead Argentina with all the pressure on his shoulders to try to finally win an International title. Then he did a Baggio and missed! Bravo didn’t even dive that way. He was visually very disappointed in himself.
Watch “Messi Miss Penalty Kick – Argentina vs Chile 2016” on YouTube here:
Chile also missed, then the next 2 for each side scored. Bravo then made a save, Chile scored and just like that it was 4-2 to Chile, it was all over and Messi was in tears.
Messi told reporters after the match that he wants more than anyone to win a title with the National team. He said he has tried everything possible and that’s four finals lost. Although in the heat of the moment and very frustrated, he said he may never play with Argentina for an International competition again and stated ‘this is not for me’.
At least Messi has an Under 20 World Cup from 2005 under his belt but it clearly doesn’t do his greatness justice. With his goals scored in this COPA America, he is now the all time leading scorer for Argentina with 55.
In the Semifinals of COPA America this week, Argentina destroyed the USA 4-0 on Tuesday and Chile beat Colombia last night with a rain delay during the match, 2-0.
Messi scored his 55th International goal on Tuesday in the 32nd minute that was a free kick vs USA. It was a spectacular free kick in the corner of the net. He now leads Argentina scorers in goals surpassing Batistuta who had 54. Messi also had 2 assists. Higuain scored 2 goals.
Messi is looking to make a stamp on his International legacy. He really just needs to win a World Cup to seal the deal, but even if he doesn’t, his greatness can never be denied.
USA will face Colombia for the 3rd place match of pride this Saturday at 7pm.
Chile the defending Champs, won 4-1 versus Argentina on penalties last year
Who will take it this year?
Last Saturday, Chile won Copa on Penalties! Argentina missed 2 penalty kicks and Alexis Sanchez closed it out with a cheeky penalty kick to the centre of the goal as the Argentina keeper flew to the right!
Messi was totally shut down by Chile’s defenders and nobody else from Argentina stepped up to the plate with DiMaria out in the 1st half with an injury. Argentina can give thanks for Mascherano, aka the defensive genius. So the score was 0-0 into overtime. Then Penalties. Chile played their heart out. Congrats to them!
Today is also considered the BEST DAY IN TENNIS with ALL ROUND 16 matches being played in 1 day at Wimbledon. Matches to see?! Serena Williams continues her mission to complete her Serena Slam, i.e. to become the first player since Steffi Graf in 1988 to accomplish the Calendar Grand Slam. However, she will have to beat her sister, Venus Williams today who has been playing very well to continue her mission. Serena has not been at the top of her game so far this Wimbledon and has been using pure emotion to carry her through, but that will not work against her sister. Serena needs to raise the level of her game if she wants this win. They have not met in a while, as it will be their 1st Grand Slam vs each other in 6 years! It will be interesting to see how it plays out, but Suga doubts it will be easy for Serena. Even past rival, Martin Hingis has finally given the  Williams sisters props for still being out there, playing competitively at their age, while she can only be found in the doubles draw. Look out though, Hingis still has a chance this week to derail one of the Williams sisters. She is mentoring Swiss teenager, Belinda Bencic who plays Azarenka in the round of 16. If she gets past Azarenka, she will meet one of the Williams sisters.  Who has more experience mentally playing the Williams sisters but Hingis? All of 34 matches vs both, winning 17.
Roger Federer is also up against Bautista Agut. He has not lost a set yet in this tournament, as he aims to win his 8th Gentleman’s title. Can RFed win one more Grand Slam?
Young, Australian, Kyrgios will be up against Gasquet. Kyrgios has been creating a lot of excitement on the court.
Germany gained their 4th star yesterday in a stunning match against Argentina in the World Cup 2014 finals staged at the historic, Maracana stadium in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Though scoreless on both sides for full-time, it was a highly contested match all the way through. It was substitute, Mario Gotze in the 112th minute of extra time who made it happen for Germany, scoring a fantastic goal to win 1-0 aka One Love, a hot Bob Marley, as Jamaicans would say.
Congrats to the Germans! Russia 2018 next!

So many upsets, so many matches gone into overtime and penalty shoot outs. The quality of this World Cup in Brazil has been outstanding. Unfortunately the hosts were devastated in the semifinals and failed to make it to Maracana. But until the next 4 years, we are left with only today to watch the Greatest Show on Earth.
The World Cup is quickly coming to an end. Life will soon resume to normality and fans will become more productive at work, especially on Mondays. Disinterested wives or persons will rejoice. However, Sunday is the FINALS, what many have been waiting to see for a month. Who will win the trophy? Germany or Messi? I mean, Argentina. Also, where will you watch it?
There is clearly a need for another Sports bar in Kingston, Jamaica. But, lets look at the few options worth mentioning. Forget about Cuddyz and Tracks and Records, poor service and Tracks has topped it off with bad logistics for viewing. Triple Century has been bought out by a company for viewing, not completely sure if it’s for the Finals as well, but if the employees have packed it up all month long, what’s to stop them from doing the same on Sunday. The Liguanea ClubMember’s Lounge for Members Only is not so bad, but I doubt they have enough seats for a final and depending on the weather that day, it may be too hot with no AC or fans, since it’s in an open environment.
A-Bar is for a younger demographic. Ribbiz will be sure to have a good vibe but falter with quality service in a crowd, which is guaranteed to be there. So it would be best to open doors with them to get a seat. Once you have a seat you should be fine because they have the best logistics when it comes to viewing TVs.
Now the Regency Bar and Lounge at the Terra Nova is a hot spot with great service. However, as for all bars mentioned you would have to reach early, especially since viewing is limited and logistics are not so great. If it is not a good look upon entry, be sure to try their neighbours, Monte Carlo Gaming Lounge, where there should be guaranteed seating and great service but not a great vibe, more on the quiet side, especially if you are looking to avoid raucous fans from another team.
So it probably all boils down to two options, The SportsMax Zone at the Chinese Benevolent Association (CBA) on Old Hope Road with a smooth, live, non-CVM feed or a House Viewing Party. The vibe at the CBA is exhilarating, service for both food and drinks at your fingertips, whether its a full house or not, logistics good, Halftime entertainment, games and prizes, but the spoiler is, for the Finals there will be a $1000JMD presold entry fee and $1500JMD charge at the gate. This is probably for crowd control, but I am sure it will be a full house regardless. Is it worth it? Yes, if you camp out from early and get your preferred seat. Otherwise, no. Head over to a friend’s house at your leisure or host your own viewing party. Note that if you copped that World Cup Schedule from Domino’s Pizza, you can get 2-for-1 pizzas from the coupons on the schedule. There is no place better than home. Controlled environment (depending on your friends’ sobriety), with  drinks, fun, food and friends.

Hope SuGa helped make your decision, have a great weekend!
