It was advertised to run from 6pm-10pm and I arrived at 8:45pm. Music was still playing but I missed the Happy Hour buzz with the rush of persons who attended after work and had a good vibe going.
For $1500JMD tax included, you can get a Burger (Beef, Chicken or Fish from what I remember) served with wedges or fries and 2 beers. Quite a good deal!
I had the Chicken Burger and wedges and my other half had the Beef Burger with fries. My Chicken Burger was tasty and the Beef Burger was well seasoned and tender on the inside with a bit of crisp on the outside. Fresh meat, bread buns and veggies. Yum! You could also add bacon for a small cost.
Additional beers, wines, rum, vodka and juices were on sale as well. So check out ‘Burger and Beer’ this evening or any other Wednesday from about 6pm-8pm and make it your Happy Hour!
Also note that NK Deli offers lunch and delivery on Mondays to Fridays (closed on Saturdays) at reasonable prices with a good range of dishes, where the menu changes daily. The prices posted for lunches now include GCT.

The Reggae Boyz will face Costa Rica in Costa Rica tonight at 9pm Jamaican time for the return round of the 4th round of the CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying series for FIFA World Cup in Russia 2018. Last Friday they drew 1-1 in Jamaica.
Costa Rica heads the group, 3 points ahead of Jamaica and Panama. Panama will face Haiti, who is at the bottom of the group with just 1 point.

What a weekend in Sports! Congrats to Calabar and Edwin Allen for winning the oh so entertaining and inspiring ISSA/Grace Kennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletics’ Championships! With 16 finals to go, both schools led the field and there was no turning back.
Our young Jamaicans put on quite a show, looking very promising for our future in Athletics. Suga’s main concern though is the workload put on the star athletes. There needs to be some kind of stipulation put in place for the Boys and Girls to run only a certain amount of events, ideally 2, because once they excel in individual events they are further pressured to run relays to help their team and school. The star athletes should also be restricted from running the heats for their teams in relays. Careful consideration needs to be given to this matter in order for them to make the transition like our legend, Usain Bolt.
With all seriousness aside, who took Champs for Suga?
Junelle Bromfield of STETHS with 4 GOLD medals! Junelle won the Class 1 Girls’ 400m, 800m, 1500m and anchored the 4×400m relay. She was absolutely exceptional and did not even blow after any final she ran. Amazing. She also blew away her rival in the 400m, Ashley ‘Felix’ Williams of Holmwood who beat her recently so she was on a mission and the revenge was sweet.
Ashley ‘Felix’ Williams, as her nickname suggests has a very similar running style and looks like USA’s athletic star, Allyson Felix. Ashley won the Girls’ 200m impressively.
KC’s Akeem Bloomfield continued his reign in the Class 1 Boys’ 400m, of which he holds the record from last year.
The tall, powerful, Dejour Russell of Calabar was upset by his teammate, Michael Stephens in the Class 2 Boys’ 100m after he could not recover from his usual slow start, but he got the opportunity again to win Gold and did just that in the Class 2 Boys’ 110m hurdles.
Another disappointment was Defending Champ of the Girls’ Class 2 100m, Shellece Clarke of Edwin Allen. She was not fully on form, had a poor start and failed to medal. She was also pulled out of the 200m event.

Back to the winners! Christopher Taylor of Calabar! In addition to breaking the Class 2 Boys’ 400m record early in the heats in 46.33s, he also won 4 GOLD medals and ran a beautiful and strategic anchor leg in the last race of Champs, finishing ahead of KC’s Akeem Bloomfield in the Boys’ 4×400m relay. Akeem ran out too hard but had too much work to do anyway by the time he received the baton. Fantastic end to the Championships.
Then there was a big NBA game on Saturday night as well!
The San Antonio Spurs held the Golden State Warriors’ Steph Curry to 1 for 12 on 3 pointers in their 87-79 win over the Warriors. It was Curry’s worst stats for 3-pointers this season.
What happened? San Antonio’s superb defence and LaMarcus Aldridge with 26 points and 13 rebounds.

The IAAF 2016 World Indoor Championships also occurred over the weekend in Portland, USA.
Jamaica’s Elaine Thompson beat the Dutch, Dafne Schippers in the SEMIS but did not have as fast of a start in the finals, where Schippers edge her to win the 60m in 7.10s.

Asafa Powell was impressive in the semis, but as usual choked in the 60m final. He had a bad start and was edged out by USA’s Trayvon Brommell.

The ISSA/Grace Kennedy Boys and Girls Champs will be on fire tonight and tomorrow as the finals of events will be run and more records will be broken. A few have gone already!
Who will win? For the Girls, after tonight, Edwin Allen will be the clear winner for this year defending their title once again!
For the Boys it will be down to the wire between KC and Calabar. JC will be totally out of the running. No true blue in sight. Can Fortis overcome Rabalac this time around? May the best school win!

Of all the teams after close shaves with the Hawks, OKC and Clippers recently, the Lakers were hitting on all cylinders yesterday to beat the Warriors 112-95, making it the Warriors’ sixth loss of the season.
Stephen Curry scored 18 points. According to ESPN Scorecenter, Curry stated, ‘Just one of those nights you want to avoid at all costs’. The team scored a season’s worst of 13% from 3-point range.
Who came up big for the Lakers? Young Jordan Clarkson who scored 25 points and D’Angelo Russell with 21 points. Kobe Bryant scored 12 points, sitting out a lot of the game with his sore shoulder but mentored his younger teammates from the sidelines.
The Warriors are still in pursuit to break the Bulls’ record of best season ever in the NBA of 72 wins. Warriors now have 55 wins. However, the San Antonio Spurs are closing in under the radar with 53 wins!
Charlize Theron looked refreshingly elegant as usual in Dior Haute Couture.

There were no surprises last night with the close run between the two political parties, JLP and PNP last night.
The JLP just needed to secure at least 2 swing or marginal seats, which they did to become victorious and win the Election 33-30. For those of you who followed Suga Lifestyle’s Election predictions on Facebook, you would see that they were all correct. According to Suga, they were pretty much even with safe seats, giving 25 to JLP and 24 to PNP. Safe seats remained safe. However, JLP had more marginal seats compared to the PNP and ended up winning all of them, even though they were likely to win them.
For instance, for the St. Andrew East constituency, Fayval Williams unseating incumbent, Andre Hylton was expected but it was known that it would have been a close call. Less than 200 votes separated the two.
Suga thinks the huge swing seat win for JLP came from Juliet Holness who beat Imani Duncan for St. Andrew East Rural. Well done wifey.
Then they sealed the deal with Dr. Norman Dunn who took the win over Dr. Winston Green in South East St. Mary, which was supposed to be a marginal seat likely to go to the PNP.
Kudos to Robert Montague for regaining his seat in St. Andrew Western after a shocking loss in 2011.
Well done to other big winners for the JLP who should not have been doubted, such as Arlando Terrelonge for St. Catherine East Rural, Floyd Green for St. Elizabeth South Western, Marlene Malahoo-Forte for St. James West Central and Juliet Cuthbert Flynn who ran away with victory in St. Andrew West Rural.
If persons had their ears to the ground, a low voter turn out should not have indicated a win or landslide victory for the PNP. The known JLP supporters were out in their numbers to vote and their candidates were not worried. However, it was the large number of PNP supporters that did not show up to vote. They are the majority and it is known that when they are not happy or in agreement with their Government, they would rather not vote versus vote against them. So even though the race was still tight in polls marked by low voter turnouts, the JLP came out on top. The mentioned point was also demonstrated in areas of ‘safe PNP’ seats where the race was extremely tight and candidates such as Dr. Morais Guy, Mikael Phillips and Derrick Kellier were in trouble, almost losing their seats.
Note that Derrick Kellier was the only PNP seat to be won in St. James. The other 4 constituencies went to the JLP. We have not seen Past Prime Minister Bruce Golding in the media, but he has veen sighted working the constituencies is St. James, in particular, that of Marlene Malahoo-Forte.
Keith Blake of the JLP also gave Colin Fagan a run for his money for South East St. Catherine.
What happened?! Why did the PNP lose? The answer is bad campaigning. Just as how JLP suffered as a result of their bad campaign in 2011, attacking Portia’s personality and level of intelligence in a distasteful fashion, the PNP has now suffered for spending a great deal of time criticizing the size of Andrew’s house. They also called an election and avoided participating in a debate! Ridiculous if you ask me, especially for young Jamaicans eagerly waiting to hear what both sides had to offer to help decide the better outlook for their future.
The JLP also used the short period of time given wisely, that is, the few weeks between when the Election was called and Election Day. The slogan they used, ‘From Poverty to Prosperity’ struck fire in dormant Labourites blood as well as others. PNP using the slogan, ‘Step Up the Progress’ is stale news because of their previous slogan, ‘Don’t stop the Progress’. JLP gained momentum rapidly and if the PNP dragged it out a little longer, the people would have started to take time to ponder and question the promises made.
The people have spoken and change has come. Today Jamaica wakes up to a new Government and they will be held accountable for a lot of promises made. It is often said that whenever the JLP wins, they will only be given a chance for 1 term. However, Rome was not built in a day. It certainly did not take 18 to 26 years either. So let us hope the JLP is given the chance and freedom to work towards their goals to help Jamaica to at least some form of Prosperity.
