Suga introduces you to Suga Tasters, Tennyson and Ashleigh Arnold!

Tennyson proposed to Ashleigh in flight, so how appropriate that their anniversary celebrations usually take them on a trip to see more of the world. This September, they chose Singapore, Bali and Vietnam.
At home in Kingston, Jamaica, they enjoy eating casually at Uncorked and for special occasions, The Terrace at the Terra Nova Hotel in Kingston and The Sugar Mill Restaurant in Montego Bay.
Suga has had the pleasure of being out with the A-Team and can tell you that these foodies have an insatiable love for all cuisines and they always have room for Dessert!
Suga Taster, Ashleigh Arnold’s Rating for Hawker Chan, China Town, Singapore
Date and time of visit: September 27, 2019 @Â 2pmÂ
No. of diners: 2 adults
Hawker Chan gets an overall Value for $ rating of 4/5.
Hawker Chan, formally known as Liao Fan Hong Kong Soy Sauce Chicken and Noodle, is the world’s first Hawker to be awarded a Michelin Star! It is located in the China Town Food Centre, China Town, Singapore. The dish for which they were awarded a Michelin Star is the Singapore favourite, Chicken and Rice, which, though simple, is exceptionally flavourful. It stands out as one of the most tender pieces of chicken we have ever eaten. This is a must try while in Singapore, where every savoury bite is worth the long cues that one has to endure for a US$8Â meal!

Suga introduces you to Suga Taster, Taraja Jackson!
Taraja is a Civil Engineer/ Military Officer and her favourite dish is anything with Pork! Her favourite casual place to eat in Kingston is Triple T’s Eatery and Miss T’s Kitchen for out of town. For special occasions, she visits Ivan’s Bar & Restaurant out of town and frequently goes to Tamarind Indian Cuisine in Kingston.
Taraja enjoys globe trotting and has hit quite a few countries already including Spain, Belgium, Turkey, Greece, Italy, the Czech Republic and more. However, she says the country she has travelled to with the best food, is Peru.
According to Taraja, the character trait that declares her as a certified foodie is that she eats and cooks for entertainment!

Date and time of visit: October 23, 2019 (Lunch time)
Nestled in the hills of Fairfield, Montego Bay, Chef Robert Joseph’s Bellefield Restaurant and Bar at Bellefield Great House was a pleasant lunch time surprise. They had a wide selection of items on their menu, however the group chose to select from the lunch time special menu, which was reasonably priced at $1000JMD per person to include a small Soup of choice and an Entree.
The service was excellent. We were greeted at the entrance and seated immediately. The server was courteous and highlighted all the specials for the day. I selected the Vegetarian Pumpkin Soup topped with roasted coconut shavings, which boosted the flavour of the soup. It was quite tasty.

The Entree did not arrive right away, but the group was distracted by basking in the pleasant ambience of the estate. We had Island Style Fried Chicken served with rice and peas and roasted vegetables. Other options were Chicken Penne Pesto, Whole Red Snapper with fries and Jerk Grilled Chicken with rice and peas/Baked Potato.
The portions were adequate and the Chicken was fried crispy to perfection with a delicious Bbq sauce on the side.
Bellefield Restaurant is in the Savoury Category ($2800JMD) for Restaurant week that starts today and ends on November 17! Give them a try!

GW Art’s NEW ‘Millennial Expectations’, Acrylic on (50×100)cm Canvas
‘Millennial Expectations’ was premiered at GW Art’s Exhibition a month ago at The Jamaica Pegasus. It peaked the interest of many. Guests wanted to know more about her and even her family. Check out the artist’s perspective here:
If a Millennial Woman (1981 – 1996) chooses to have a child during the beginning or building stages of her career, she often looks like her usual self with a bigger stomach until she is about 8 to 9 months pregnant. The artist sees her as one that is strong, who eats healthy. She does recommended exercises even up to 7 months and goes for walks at 8 to 9 months. She remains quite fashionable and works right up to the point where she may be forced to take time off.
‘Millennial Expectations’ is available for purchase now or if you would like to treat yourself or a loved one this Christmas. The place to be is Suga Lifestyle’s Christmas Connection on December 15th at The Jamaica Pegasus, where GW Art will showcase and sell pieces from the Exhibition’s Collection as well as a few new ones.

Last Thursday evening, Suga had the pleasure of attending the official Grand Opening of the Reggae Mill Restaurant at Devon House.
After two and a half years of serving Greek Cuisine at Devon House, familiarly known as Opa, owner, Alexx Antaeus decided to leave it up to his business partner, Orlease King (Jamaican, born and grown) to take over and give Devon House and by extension, Kingston, Jamaica, an authentic Jamaican cuisine restaurant.
The restaurant shares the same space as Opa and the Reggae Mill Bar, but according to Antaeus, the prices for the Reggae Mill Restaurant should be more reasonable to encourage persons to make it their preferred spot for lunch.
Appetizers were offered to guests, giving you a taste of what to expect when you decide to dine at the new, authentic Jamaican dining spot.
Niesha from the Reggae Mill Restaurant serving Ackee and Saltfish on fried, pressed green plantain.
The Ackee and Saltfish on pressed plantain gave persons the option of adding more seasoning or spice. While the tender Pork bites gave you the true Jamaican hit of spice, mixed with a touch of sweet from the sauce.
CPJ had an assortment of wines serving throughout the night and the buffet opened up, treating guests to Rice and peas, Curried Goat, Jerked Chicken, Oxtail and Stew Peas.
Stew Peas, Oxtail, Jerked Chicken, Curried Goat and rice and peas from the buffet at the Reggae Mill Restaurant Launch last Thursday, October 17, 2019.
Suga enjoyed it all. The flavours were balanced and the meats, sourced locally, were well seasoned and juicy to the bone. Orlease did a fantastic job of recreating the meals we grew up enjoying from our kitchens. We all know the home cooked Stew Peas that tied our fathers is not easy to achieve. I am also happy to say in Jamaican words, ‘it neva salt’.
Stew Peas from the Reggae Mill Restaurant!
Well done to Orlease, Alexx and their team. Looking forward to see the Reggae Mill Restaurant maintain a high standard of true, home style Jamaican cooking.
I am also looking forward to trying the Jamaican desserts, in particular, my favourite, the Bread Pudding!
