I am truly blessed to have my Birthday fall on June 10th, when businesses are reopening, persons are heading back to work and well basically, the country is reopening. I find joy in spreading positive vibes and even though some of us including myself may feel naturally nervous about what the future will hold, we are ALL moving forward during and after Covid-19.
Stay tuned to SUGA, yes that’s the good ‘Suga’ with no ‘r’, as I continue to embrace and PROMOTE local and small businesses with love. My 2020 GW Art Collection is ongoing! Thanks to all who have supported GW Art from the very beginning and especially during Covid 19. Looking forward to new support too, as GW Art is for everyone!
During Love In The Time Of Corona continues as I ENTERTAIN you with my Restaurant Reviews and other Culinary outings and experiences.
I truly feel a huge void without the NBA Finals on my Birthday, but I look forward to its return with other Sports and entertaining you with commentary and updates for them too.
As a Certified Personal Trainer & Sports Nutritionist, I practice what I preach and I am pleased and proud to announce that I hit my ‘Dirty 30’ weight, also my Wedding Day weight once again!💪🾠I am just a phone call away to EDUCATE.
Again, I am Thankful. Cheers to 35 and Going into Overdrive! 🥂

What’s the difference between Hodgkin’s and Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma?Â
Non–Hodgkin lymphoma may originate anywhere in the body, whereas Hodgkin lymphoma usually starts in the upper body, for instance in the neck, chest or armpits. Hodgkin’s lymphoma is often diagnosed at an early stage and is thus considered one of the most treatable cancers.

I finally got a few friends to come and have some drinks with me in the open air by the Poolside Bar at The Jamaica Pegasus!
We observed social distancing as much as possible, our waitress was attentive and wore her mask and we wore ours to enter and leave. They gave us cute poolside table lamps too!
The Poolside Bar was actually closed a little earlier that day, but they had no issues facilitating our preference to be in open air and brought drinks down to us from The Blend Bar upstairs.
It was surely a nostalgic feeling to pour Drinks at a bar and ask my friends to pass the ice bucket with their clean hands. Then drink with just enough time to make curfew 😉 As Restaurants and Bars slowly start to reopen, thanks to The Jamaica Pegasus for never closing their doors with all necessary protocols observed, remaining Kingston’s preferred Hotel. We appreciate you👌ðŸ¾ðŸ» #SugaSnaps #SugaEndorsedÂ

Suga Tasters, Ash and Ten’s Breakdown!
Chef Bingy definitely met and even exceeded our expectations, particularly with the explosion of different flavours in relatively simple dishes. We first experienced this with Chef Bingy’s Pumpkin Chicken Soup, which Jamaicans expect in a Pumpkin soup, but with welcomed notes of coconut milk and ginger. Chef Bingy definitely defied the ‘usual’ by also adding nuts such as Almonds to her marvellous Soup.
We had ordered a Salad as well, which was deliciously enhanced by a crunchy texture from added Walnuts and Pears to the Kale. Sweet and earthy were definitely the predominant flavours!
After our very satisfying Soup and Salad experience, we recently tried Chef Bingy’s Curried Chicken, which was extremely rich and flavourful. This, served with roast and fried Breadfruit, definitely hit the spot and was reminiscent of my beloved Nanny’s cooking in a ‘dutchie’ on the cold stove. For $800JMD, along with generous slices of Avocado and Plantains, this meal was well worth it!
The personal delivery from Chef Bingy herself was also a nice touch, but if she continues cooking this way, she may be confined to the Kitchen whipping out more and more delicious soul food!

With word of Stush in the Bush coming to town with Fyah Grilled Pizzas on a Tuesday, there was no hesitation to order.
During Love in the Time of Corona, Stush came knocking on my door, from their farm to my table with my neatly packaged order of Fyah Grilled Pizzas ($2000JMD each), Chocolate Chip Cookies ($1000JMD per dz.), Herbed Vegan Cheese ($2000JMD) and Basil Pesto ($1200JMD).
It was without doubt that I had to make it a Family night with all the excitement shown by my fur baby, Annie once all the goodies were taken out the bag and I mentioned Stush in the Bush.
I had to do a Stush set up too! Pun intended. A farm to table vibe with freshly picked flowers from the garden, recycled wine bottles, burlap and lace, mason jars and of course a trendy GW Art wooden sign by yours truly. The wooden sign said, ‘Thankful’, fitting for the occasion and for coping with Covid times.
The Pizzas traveled well and just needed to be reheated in the oven for a few minutes. We had Pizza with Pesto sauce, olives and capers, carrot lox and dill with vegetarian cheddar and vegan parmesan, as well as Pizza with Tomato sauce, ripe plantain, coconut bacon and red onions with vegetarian cheddar and cashew cheese.
A myriad of unforgettable flavours on each Pizza brought us right back to Stush in the Bush’s home in Free Hill, Priory, St. Ann. We cannot wait to return!

Throwing it back to Mystic Thai delivering to our door last week Wednesday!
That was not a dinner to eat on the couch in front of the television. It was a great opportunity for Date Night. I had to shower, wash my hair and get ready. I mean, we had to respect the rich, culinary ethnicity of what we were about to experience. We were dressed too casual, but it’s hot at home!
The package traveled well. It seemed like the boxes were delivered just as how they packed them. There was no leaking or gravy stains and this was coming all the way from Montego Bay to Kingston. Why can’t bearers in Kingston get it right?
Anyhow, Date night kicked off with delish Mushroom Bamboo Shoots (USD$8) and Shrimp and Scallion (USD$10.50) Dumplings complemented well by the sauces provided with them. We had spicy, sweet, herby and soy sauce options.
We then enjoyed Rang Dang Gai (Grilled Chicken with Thai Herbs – USD$9.50) Kebab style.
The finale featured Kaeng Som (Yellow Curry) Shrimp (USD$14.50) with Garlic Naan. Their Green Thai and Red Thai Curries are best sellers, but I was going for the immune booster provided by the Turmeric in the Yellow Curry.
My only complaint was that the quantity could have been more, which I am sure they will look into when they hopefully do this again! I would also order more. We were still satisfied, but we had ZERO leftovers. The next day we were just left with the memory that no other Restaurant’s Dinner Delivery is currently on that level. You get what you pay for. Thank you so much Mystic Thai for thinking of Kingston, my taste buds thank you as well. #SugaSnaps #SugaEndorsedÂ

(If you hate the long walk from the parking lot, they have been stopping persons to find out where they are going. Once I said the restaurant, the chain was dropped and I got to park close by. #SugaSnaps)
Suga’s 4th Anniversary was 2 weeks ago (so now marked safe!) and she was itching to dine out. But first, how did Suga take the chance?!
I know that Government officials, diplomats and a large clientele of local and international corporations use the meeting and restaurant facilities of The Pegasus regularly. So they must have strict measures in place to keep everyone safe.
Believe it or not, I have a touch of OCD, so I also take my own precautionary measures that everyone should take. When you do take out or curbside pick up, you are already trusting persons in the kitchen to handle your food. We are already wearing masks, practicing social distancing when walking into or out of most places or even waiting somewhere. When we go home, I would hope that we leave our shoes at the door, discard our clothing in the laundry hamper and have a shower.
So what makes Dining out different if tables are set at or more than 6ft apart? The utensils, the table setting including a cloth napkin and the chair you are sitting in.
How does The Jamaica Pegasus Keep it Safe to Dine?
· All guests are asked to sanitize hands before entering the restaurant. [Personally, I go to the bathroom, wash my hands and then use a napkin to open the door to go out and dispose of it in the bin nearby at the atm machine.]
· Physical distancing is adhered to when seating (tables are spaced and limited number of diners accommodated)
· All menus are sanitized after each use. [#SugaSnaps]
· Cutlery are triple sanitized. Pre-soaked in bleach, washed in a machine that uses heat and chemical for sanitizing. Tables will be set when guests are seated.
· Tables and chairs are sanitized after each use.
· Frequent touch areas are sanitized multiple times throughout the service time.
Not so bad right? Also note, they are changing to disposable napkins this week!
The table was set before we were seated, but I expected that no one would have tampered with it or it may not have been set for too long before.
The service staff all wore masks the correct way and there were only 2 other persons dining at the time. They were wearing masks too. I actually felt comfortable. I didn’t touch the menu because I know their regular menu well enough and went for the special that day, which was posted at the entrance for you to see.
Guess what? We returned last week Friday too! They had a Salmon special! We knew what to expect so we were even more comfortable.
Both the Appetizer and the Main were delish. I appreciated that it was a healthy meal too! #SugaSnaps
Of course there is no picture of my husband and I, an ‘ussie’ wouldn’t do the trick and during love in the time of Corona, it is not advised to ask other persons, especially the waiter to handle your phone!
Let the food pics speak for themselves. (Of course my phone is sanitized – all the time)
We enjoyed 2 courses at Kingston’s best Hotel for just $2000JMD (taxes additional) with a complimentary glass of juice. It was a steal of a deal pulling us in. You will now see the listed price of the Lunch Special as $2500JMD, but it includes G.C.T and Service Charge, so definitely value for money, especially if they have added Steak to the menu for some days. Look out for what to expect on their Instagram page!
Taking the chance is up to you, but dining at The Blue Window during Love in the time of Corona is #SugaEndorsed.
XoXo,
Suga 💖
