Suga visited Pho Today in New Jersey during the holiday season and it was a refreshing change for the palate.
My cousin and I enjoyed the Goi Chon Tom (Shrimp Summer roll), where there were healthier Vegetable & Avocado options as well.
Then we had the Pho Filet Mignon, with added vegetable options. It was rich with flavours and authentic. I love me some lemongrass!

If You Know You Know! I’m sure Suga Bears missed Nicky from The Bread Pudding Factory (Ig: @thebreadpuddingfactory) at Christmas Connection in December. There were some mishaps that occurred in the kitchen and it halted mass production.
Many of us missed out on that one of a kind goodness that only The Bread Pudding Factory can produce. I am so happy she still paid me a visit at the show and I could enjoy Babka, Bread and more for the season!

You just got to love servers that know the menu inside out with the best suggestions too!
The Duck Kibbeh’s flavours are out of this world, the roasted pine nuts add a tasty, fun crunch to the Hummus Royale, the Black Truffle is the way you should do rice all the time with flavours complementing each other and so outside of the box. Lastly, the roasted Lamb Shoulder melts in your mouth and although I prefer the original version, they certainly do Baklava with a twist.

Charred Octopus with Romesco sauce and roasted Marcona Almonds. (US$22)
Throwback to probably the best Octopus I’ve ever had, 3 Thursdays ago!
Suga had a GNO at Council Oak Steaks & Seafood, a staple of the renewed Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood, Florida.
The menu offers prime cuts of beef, signature raw bar & delectable seafood selections, and more. I heard of their state-of-the-art wood fire grills and Josper coal ovens and was eager to try their Lamb Chops, but they were unavailable that night.
So I had the most delish Charred Octopus as a starter with Romesco sauce and roasted Marcona Almonds. Perfectly grilled. Tender, succulent, with a crispy outside and slightly smoky flavour from the wood fire grill.
I then enjoyed the Parmesan crusted Salmon, complemented by a tasty Beurre Blanc sauce with a glass of vino.

I will admit, that’s not Apple juice. It’s Scotch on the rocks. I think it is ok to bring a little vacay or holiday spirit back to work. Let’s be real, some of us think it’s 2020 all over again and need a strong one. Let’s try not to think that way though.
Of course numbers will sky rocket for January. Try to ignore it. We just concluded the biggest holiday of each year with lots of travelers. Continue to wear your mask and sanitize. Arrange to get your booster if you haven’t yet and remember that we can’t put our lives on hold until 2025 or however long this will last. You will be left behind. Notice I haven’t mentioned what ‘this’ is. We are moving forward.
For those of you like me with a never ending ‘To Do’ List. Let’s not obsess over it. As you check things off, more things will naturally replace them. Get to it when you can. Be confident you are doing your best.
Oh and I really hope they keep the kids in school. Cheers to Monday and have a great, productive week! 🥂

Have you been to the fairly new Coppers Jamaica Restaurant (Ig: @thecoppersja) on Haining Road?
It was the last stop for hubby, Randy’s Restaurant Hopping Birthday Weekend. We couldn’t get a reservation for the Saturday, so we went for Lunch on Monday, December 6th. You have to call ahead early for this spot Suga Bears.
Owner, Heather is back, but what we knew as Heather’s had to be revamped into what seemed to be a long time vision, Coppers. Well executed. You have casual and formal dining options, outdoors and indoors respectively.
Our waitress was courteous & attentive throughout our stay.
They scored a fantastic Chef, Ramesh, who used to be at Cellar 8 in their early days. IYKYK. So the food was of course, spectactular.
Chef Ramesh’s seasoning and flavours are in a class by itself. I enjoyed the juicy Japanese Sticky Pork with Soya Ginger Greens & Basmati rice, while Randy fulfilled his Burger craving. If you have one, go for it! A Two Patty Smash Burger stuffed with crispy onion rings, served with seasoned fries.
