The Top 3 of the Miss Universe 2017 Pageant after being announced! Miss South Africa, Colombia and Jamaica were selected from the Top 5 Finalists that included Miss Thailand and Miss Venezuela
The Miss Universe 2017 Pageant was held in Las Vegas last night and the beautiful and confident, well poised South Africa’s Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters took the crown! Congratulations to her. Well deserved.

The Pageant featured gorgeous gowns, but for Suga, it was our Miss Jamaica, Davina Bennett in Yellow who stood out amongst a sea of nudes and neutrals. Her stunning lemon-yellow gown with caped sleeves was designed by our local,ĆĀ Uzuri International Designs Ltd. The pop of colour was accentuated by her beautiful dark coloured skin and natural hair. Davina modelled the gown with the necessary charisma and flair.

Davina reached the top 5 answering a question on how Men and Women can work together to tackle the issue of Sexual Harassment. She started off well but got nervous towards the end, giving an overall mediocre answer. Not to worry though, because the other Top 5 Finalists who were given questions on other major issues gave mediocre answers as well. Miss South Africa, who was a favourite of mine from the beginning, was quite confident and concise with her answer.
After the Top 3 Finalists were announced, all 3 answered the same question this time around, of course using soundproof headphones so they could not hear each others’ answers.
The Question asked which Quality did they have that they were most proud of and how will they apply it to their time as Miss Universe.
Miss Jamaica was announced first in the Top 3, thus called first to answer. It was obvious she was nervous, starting off with a grammatical error, then finished eloquently with an overall good answer. She mentioned her Drive to create awareness about the deaf and how they should be treated as equals to get jobs etc. She even added a bit of sign language that was a nice touch.
Miss Colombia, Laura Gonzales followed with a mediocre answer having to do with her quality of Compassion. At first, I thought Miss Jamaica should have definitely placed before Miss Colombia for the 2nd spot. However, if you watch them answer their questions again, Miss Colombia answered confidently and more fluently without stuttering. I think Davina’s initial blunder and obvious nervousness throughout her answer costed her 2nd place and maybe even the crown. She also seemed a bit rehearsed.
Miss South Africa’s answer was natural, concise and to the point again. Her quality was Confidence, which was no surprise and she expressed herself well.
If you would like to just see Davina’s answer, click on the link to the first video. To see the answers from all 3 Finalists, check the link to the video below it.

Apologies Suga Bears,
The Blue Window Restaurant at The Jamaica Pegasus has notified Suga Lifestyle about the advertised Error in Cost for the Thanksgiving Dinner Buffet, which has been corrected to $2500JMD (tax and service charge additional), as more options will be offered than the Lunch Buffet. It is still a reasonable cost to include more options such as Steamed Fish and Succulent Beef!
Cost of the Thanksgiving Lunch Buffet remains at $1700JMD plus tx and Service Charge.
Thanks for your Understanding.
With all the Showers of Blessing Jamaica has received in the past few months, perhaps we have a lot to be thankful for.
Quite a few places will be offering Thanksgiving Dinner, which is slowly becoming a part of our culture.
Suga recommends Thanksgiving at The Blue Window Restaurant, Jamaica Pegasus, where service, quality and variety are at a high standard for an affordable price. They will be offering Thanksgiving Lunch tomorrow at a cost $1700JMD per person and Thanksgiving Dinner at a cost of $2500JMD excluding tax and service charge.
The Carving stationĆĀ looks like it will be a hit! Check the menu out below. Reservations are recommended.

Once blessed with the happy and life-changing news of Pregnancy, it is not time to leave the sneakers in the closet or to cancel your gym membership.
It is perfectly safe to do certain exercises once cleared by your Doctor.
Two types of exercises immediately ruled out are jumping and prone (on the stomach) exercises.
My clients train on the elliptical machine, cycle or walk for Cardio and sometimes throw in a bit of step work. However, weight training and resistance exercises for toning are usually the focus.
With time and lack of exercise, the skin will lose its elasticity and it is quite hard to regain. So as long as expecting moms feel comfortable exercising during pregnancy, it should be safe to exercise up to 7 or 8 months and to walk during the last month.
Once there is any discomfort during exercise, you should stop that exercise immediately and move on to the next one.
If cramping or extreme discomfort is experienced, give yourself a break from exercising that day.
Benefits of Exercising During Pregnancy:
Ć¢āĀ Helps to have a quicker Postpartum Recovery
Ć¢āĀ Facilitates a faster return to Pre-Pregnancy Weight and Appearance
Ć¢āĀ Reduces Back Pain and Strain
Ć¢āĀ Reduces the Risk of Gestational Diabetes
Ć¢āĀ Shorter Labour and Less Complications requiring Surgery
I suggest the following Exercises to keep active and as toned as possible:
1. Elliptical training

2. Cycling (On a stationary bike)
3. Walking
4. Squats
5. Lunges
6. Light arm work with Dumbbells for the Biceps and Triceps
7. Kegel ExercisesĆĀ
Kegel Exercises also known as Pelvic floor exercises are quite popular during pregnancy. They involve contracting and relaxing the pelvic muscles (kegel muscles) repeatedly.

The exercises strengthen the pelvic floor muscles to help push the baby out easily during delivery. The exercises also support the uterus, bladder, small intestine and rectum. This in turn helps to deal with urinary incontinence that is a common problem during pregnancy.
***Kegel exercises are not strenuous or painful, but some persons may have discomfort so it is a good idea to discuss with your gynaecologist first.***
8. Supported groin and pelvis floor stretch with slight back bend.

9. Yoga Exercises. E.g. Fierce Cat and Cobbler’s Pose

10. Exercises for the Glutes and Hamstrings
